Holy shakes, batman. { my pure barre review}

So, after attending a grand total of THREE Pure Barre classes I figured it was time to chat about it a little.  First things first, I've been told on NUMEROUS occasions how much I would LOVE Pure Barre being a former dancer/cheerleader.  Although, let's be honest, the older I get...that part of my life seems SO, SO long ago and my body isn't quite not even close, to what it was during those years.  Anyways, I've always heard how amazing it is...I mean it better be with that price tag, right?  (It's EXPENSIVE for those not in the know)  Like....$150/month expensive.  For a CLASS.  Not a gym, just ONE class.  WOAH.  I don't know about y'all but that is a LOT of money to spend on a workout class.  Nonetheless, I had been dying to try it out...you know because I had been told I would just love it.

So, finally....little ole' Columbia got a Pure Barre studio.  It's been open since October...but I finally bought a Living Social deal last month and decided to give it a whirl.  Finally, this was my chance!  I am going to TRANSFORM my body...ha.   That will be the day.  But, seriously...I was excited.  And to be honest, I feel a bit let down.  I really just have mixed reviews on it.  Is it going to TONE my body? Absolutely.  But, it is not solely going to help me lose weight.  And for the price tag, I just don't know if I can justify it.  It is an amazing {LIFTING, TONING, BURNING} (that's their slogan sort of) work out.  Like literally, some part of my body is shaking the whole class....now granted, although I've been TALKING A LOT OF CRAP, I am still very much out of shape.  But, I see girls in there who have definitely been doing it a while (you can tell by their form and ummmm...bodies) and they shake too!  But, there is ZERO cardio and for someone who has pounds to lose, you need CARDIO as well.  In a perfect world, I would do Pure Barre twice a week and run/do a cardio video two or three times a week.  But, the MONEY!  The MONEY!  You can pay by visit, so I could buy a package for like 20 classes and go as often as I like...but it's still a pretty penny.  I think it just SHOCKS me how expensive it is.  $22 per class.  WHAT?!?  I just don't see how that could be your SOLE form of exercise.  And that's a LOT of money to pay for it not to be.  I guess if your other form is free (running) than it would help some.  I dunno...like I said, I'm torn.

Don't get me wrong, my muscles are SORE.  I shake like nobody's business.  I am definitely TONING and BURNING.  It is a good workout.  I just don't know if it's good enough for the price. When I would have to do something else as well.  I've got a few more times to go before my living social deal runs out...and I guess then I will have to make a decision.  Maybe in the meantime I'll find that money tree......

Here's to LIFTING, TONING, BURNING!!

  1. So glad to read your post about this. I live in Greenville, and when a PB studio opened right near my house I was interested in finding out more. That was until I saw the prices, goodness, so expensive! I just don't see how so many people pay this much for one class. I'll stick with Jazzercise, which I've been doing for 2 years, love, and has helped me lose almost 30 pounds so far!

My Pinterest inspired master bedroom makeover part one.

The BEFORE pictures. I've been itching to re-do my master bedroom for quite some time now. I am one of those people that likes to re decorate quite often...unfortunately for my bank account. Mikey's mom bought him a full queen sized bedroom suite when he graduated college, which was wonderful. It is very nice furniture and has served us well. But, I am SOOO sick of all the dark matchy-matchy look it brings. I will use this furniture again in a guest bedroom one day...but for now, it's time to retire it from my master. All of my bedding and rug I had previously...I've now had this zebra/brown/green theme for almost 4 years...so over it! Fortunately for us...my brother and SIL got a new bed...so what do we get?? Their old KING size bed!! Woohoo. I do NOT like for people to touch me when I sleep, I need my space...I've been wanting a king for so long. Even though our room isn't the biggest the king is working out okay...we aren't going to be in this h

2019 family Village Creek trip

Our 2019 summer family vacation was everything I could have asked for, and more!  This year, my parents and nephew joined us for the week so we had extra fun!  (and extra chaos of course, too!)  We did ALL the things, but yet also did ALL the relaxing.  We arrived on G and T's actual, bday so we started our trip with a special birthday lunch in downtown Beaufort with just the boys since Collins rode down with my mom.  We also finally experienced the drive in movie that night for Toy Story 4 and it was AWESOME!  We only had one day of cloudy weather so that was awesome!  We ventured to Bohicket Marina, Harbor Town, Harbor Island, Edisto Island, Botany Bay, our favorite sandbar AND downtown Beaufort by boat, we had a ball!   My dad got some AMAZING fireworks and we had a little show for the culdesac, so much fun!!  Mikey and I even got to sneak out one night for a date night, headed to our fav, Sal

Takeover Tuesday

Surprise Caro, guess who hacked into your blog! I know what you are saying to yourself...I can’t believe it’s taken this long for me to mess with you on here. For those of you who haven’t figured it out yet, this obviously is not your sweet Caroline, this is her wonderful, sarcastic, fun loving, baby daddy (or is it babies’ daddy now?), also known as her husband. (Caro at her finest, throwing me a great 25th birthday celebration) Where do I begin…. I guess we can talk about how this marital bliss came to be before we talk about the author of this blog and how amazing she. Caroline has been the love of my life for as long as I can remember, we were actually first grade boyfriend and girlfriend if you can believe it. After first grade, there was the great divide, as both of us went to different schools the following year. Finally, after 10 agonizing, lonely years we were reunited at a house party our senior year in high school. I, naturally, had always kept an eye on her throughou
