The Friday (Thursday) Five.

Well, today is my Friday...so we will just go with it.  I won't blog for the rest of my long weekend so might as well go ahead and do my Friday Five post.  I am so, so excited about spending the long weekend in Beaufort.  It has been way too long since we have been there for my low country loving heart.  Too long, I tell ya.  I'm really liking the tradition of spending Easter there for right now.  We attend the church where we got married and cook our Easter dinner and enjoy the day RELAXING.  I know when C gets a little older I will want her to participate in our home church's activities and Easter service, but for now I'm soaking up the opportunity to spend this GLORIOUS Easter holiday on the coast. 1. Last night we celebrated two of my bestest friends 30th birthdays with a GIRLS night at Let's Cook .  This is the second time we have done a birthday celebration there and it does not disappoint.  The food is delish.  We probably aren't his favorite audience

My bland, boring bedroom.

I guess I'll go ahead and get one of the WORST rooms in the house out of the way.  This is one of the few rooms that we have NOT touched since moving the furniture in.  This will become baby Glenn number 2's room when the time comes, and I've got way too long of a to do list in more important rooms in the house to worry about this guest bedroom until I need to worry about it;-) I do love this furniture, it was my great grandmother's and was my first furniture set that I used post dorm room living in college.  Back then, I painted it white (even as a college student, I was not satisfied with an old brown wood bed!) and loved it white for many years.  But, then when we moved into our first house as a married couple..it was time for something different, so black it went!  Seriously, the drawers are getting hard to open and close because of having so many layers of paint (it was painted white twice and black twice...nuts!) and the fact that well, it's OLD. Anyhoo

My toddler.

Sniff, Sniff.  I have a TODDLER?? What?  Seriously, that first e-mail that popped up from Baby Center changing the subject to "Your toddler" from "Your baby" definitely threw me for a loop.  I mean, I get that she is technically a "toddler" now, but let's be honest...she is still MY baby:) Anyways, this was the gist of the e-mail talking about what my THIRTEEN month old may be interested in today...and y'all, seriously...it is DEAD on: The toddler tornado A 13-month-old is a whirlwind of activity. Your child probably thinks it's fun to push, throw, and knock everything down. She's not being deliberately destructive. Rather, she views the whole world as one big science experiment: What happens if I do this? And this? And this? It's exciting to be able to make things happen, whether it's unrolling all the toilet paper or yanking books off a shelf – again and again. Games that involve putting objects in containers and

{our weekend}

Well, we didn't let the YUCKY and COLD weather dampen our spirits too much.  This weekend was actually a pretty good one considering the non stop RAIN. We had a fun night out Friday night with friends to celebrate one of my besties birthdays (who is going to be our neighbor in suburbia SOON, so excited!).  We had a big group of 16 at dinner and then some of us went back to a house and hung out a bit more.  It was nice not going till late so I could still spend some good time with Collins before we left her with her grandparents for the night:)  I SO wish I had gotten a group pic...boo:-( Happy, happy birthday Linds!! We actually had a productive Saturday...in between naps we headed out and went to Lowe's.  There is constantly stuff we need at that place!  We are slowly replacing light fixtures, door knobs, etc.  We bought new lights for Collins' bathroom,a curtain rod for the guest room, a new front door knob/handle set and new door knobs for our other two doors tha

A LONG way to go in the LIVING room...

Oh the living room...although the kitchen is the heart of the home, we definitely spend LOTS of time in the den/living room. Eventually we will turn the bonus room into a play room, but right now with C being so young...all of her toys are in here and therefore we are in here a LOT. Here is the before shot:  And on to the afters.... Biggest things: floors darker, no more blah beige, and the amazing built in's that my dad built.  I am in LOVE with them.  We used the hardwood flooring leftover from our bedroom for the top and it is perfect! This room will change a LOT in the coming months/year.  We will have a new sectional, ottoman/coffee table and the red wing back will be recovered.  The wing back will go where the brown chair is now (the brown chair will go to Craigslist!) and we will eventually purchase the Brook recliner from Ballard Designs (where you can supply your own fabric!) to go where the red wing back is now.  (Mikey has always wanted a recliner to watch
