Gimme an hour, see what I can do!

I feel like I am superwoman some days at lunch. Honestly, one hour? It truly amazes me how much I accomplish. I try and eat at home everyday, but that doesn't always happen. I wind up eating out atleast once a week generally, maybe more if I am traveling. Mikey and I both go home for lunch around the same time though, it's so nice to be able to hang out a little bit in the middle of the hectic work day. (It only takes us 10 minutes to get to our house from work, so that gives me 40 minutes at home) For example, today: I started a load of clothes, vacuumed and dusted my bedroom, made my bed, cleaned all the kitchen counters and ate! This helps me out so much. There are lots of nights where we are out and about and don't have time to do house "chores." My lunch hour provides me the perfect time to get small little "to do's" checked off. I am a pretty clean freak, so I constantly am cleaning, sweeping, vacuuming, wiping down counters, etc. I

Another Throw Back Thursday!

I'm finally able to do another throw back because this weekend last year I had just finished taking the BAR exam, i.e. my life could return to normalcy. We had our engagement party this weekend and it was a perfect way to celebrate me being done studying and finally getting to enjoy wedding festivities! My parents original Supper Club group (they started when they were like 24 years old) hosted our party for us at one of the couples gorgeous homes on Lake Murray! Unfortunatley, it was a yucky, rainy day and they had to move most festivities inside and in the garage. Fortunately, they had a huge house and wrap around porch so there was plenty of room for the 100 person party!! They had an oyster roast and it was devine, or atleast so I'm told. *I don't eat oysters, eek.* One of my mom's childhood best friend's father cooked the oysters (did you get all that?) and he is a pro! They also had tons of wonderful hors d'oeuvres and some chicken bog! (chicken,

No worries, I think Lindsey can safely keep her gold!

OUCH! After two full days of skiing I was a sore girl. We had SO much fun, although skiing is hard work. We were able to enjoy the hot tub after a long day on the slopes which made my poor ole body feel reeeeal nice! However, putting a bathing suit on in the middle of February ...umm yeah, not so fun. It was a nice vacay because we just hung out with the fam at the condo all three nights and went to bed relatively early. As much as I loved seeing and enjoying all of this snow in N.C., it was rather nice to come home to a 65 degree day in Columbia on Sunday! This was the view from the TOP. This is the cutest little rockstar EVER. She LOVES LOVES that tutu and every time you ask her if she wants to dance she puts it on! Mikey about to go down! Yours truly ....doin a little posing on the top before I head down The munchkin again, all ready to hit the slopes! Happy to be staying HOME this weekend for a change. House chores, hanging with friends, church and brunch are on the agenda

Lindsey Vonn, you better watch out!

Because I am going skiing this weekend and I might just give you a run for your money! HA! We are leaving today after work to head up to Sugar Mountain, NC for long weekend skiing with the fam. N.C. can be very hit or miss with its ski conditions, because you never know how cold it will be or if they will get a lot of snow. However, this year they have had record temps. and snow fall! My parents just decided very last minute a couple of weeks ago to plan a trip, so here we are! After watching American badasses Lindsey Vonn and Shaun White yesterday, I got PUMPED! I love the Olympics becaues I LOVE the American pride that comes out. I get pretty competitive about how many medals we have won and so on. I check like every day...as of lunch time today USA was kicking butt with 14 medals and Germany in second with 10!! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Gonna miss you.

So long my favorite melt in my mouth, juicy, weakness. I won't be seeing you again for 40 days. I really hope I have the discipline to do this....those waffle fries and I go way back, we need a mayyyyjahhh break from each other. Maybe this will help my "weigh in" posts that I was supposed to start oh about...three weeks ago. Oops. What did everyone give up for Lent?

Mardi Gras Clueless

So....thru the blog/twitterverse I have learned a LOT. Lately, I have learned about Mardi Gras. I'm not saying that I was completely clueless before, but being from Columbia, SC...we just don't really celebrate/participate in Mardi Gras celebrations so I had no idea what I was missing out on! I am also not Catholic so I don't know all of the history, etc. I wish I had a big Fat Tuesday party to go to tonight, I would wanna wear something silly...like this: Does everyone give up something for Lent? I typically do, I'm thinking FRIED FOODS this year. ALL of them. They are my weakness...french fries, i could eat every freakin day. Okay, that's it. DONE AND DONE. It's been decided...that is what I am giving up. Here's to hoping it goes well=) And I will leave with a few pics of our niece and nephew from our weekend in Jacksonville. These are Mikey's sisters children, Hayden was turning 4! Can't believe how fast time flies! The birthday girl...

Manic Monday/movie critic

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Columbia, SC got a fairly rare snow storm on Friday evening...we actually got around 6 inches, which is a lot for these parts! Sadly, because we were headed to Jacksonville, we didn't get to enjoy any of it. We weren't too mad though because we are leaving Thursday to go skiing in Sugar Mountain, NC. Taking a little last minute vacay with the fam because there has been quite a good bit of snow at Sugar this year. We had a very calm weekend, celebrating our niece's 4th birthday with family. Last night, we watched Couples Retreat. I was pretty excited about it...and then bam, I kinda think it sucked. I LOVE LOVE Vince Vaughn usually, but this is definitely not one of his best. I just didn't really think it was all that funny. Oh well. I did however recently watch My Sister's Keeper and thought it was fabulous. I definitely loved the book more (I always do) but the movie was perfect for what I was looking for. It was the perfect

Saint Valentine's...please spare me.

I hope I am not the only out there who thinks Valentine's Day is SUPER over-rated. I hope not to offend anyone, but I've never really seen the big deal. We don't really celebrate the holiday, I don't think Hallmark/Whitman's/flowers.com/etc. really need my money anyways. This isn't to say I didn't gladly accept stuffed animals and the requisite heart shaped locket/gold plated necklace with "I love you" on it/roses galore throughout my "oh my gosh I am in love and i am only 14, days." I just don't really see the point anymore, we celebrate our anniversiary, well we WILL celebrate it (June 13) and I think that is the holiday that should be about showing love and affection between "companions" as Wikipedia states it. I mean even before I got married our "dating" anniversiary was more important to me than Valentine's. And honestly, lets face it: I DON'T need the chocolate, or roses for that matter. I mea

busy bee.

EEEkkk. So I have actually been quite busy at work lately, traveling a lot so I am not in the office as much. Therefore, I don't have time to internet surf....sure does make the day go by a lot faster! We had another nice laid back weekend, and I got to see one of my best friends who lives in OHIO...so we never get to see each other. Hubs and I FINALLY made our first church appearance, we both enjoyed it. (Not first ever, but first where we would like to start going regularly, etc.) Super Bowl Sunday was fun, after all the big hype about the Tim Tebow commercial we missed it! I guess I might have to you tube it one day so I can watch. And, GASP....the worst of all, I missed CARRIE sing=( Again, I know I can you tube, but gosh...I really wanted to see her. In more exciting (er, painful) news ...hubs and I purchased P90X! WOW. So, this whole "dieting" thing still hasn't exactly taken off, but I be damn, it better start now if I do this workout thing for real.

A girl can dream right?

A peek into my current wish list... This rug would look gorgeous in our den. Love the colors. This car would be my perfect accessory! A nice vacation...a little Bora Bora would do the body good! A LOT of this from our taxes...*pray* I don't think that's asking too much, do you?? Aahhh. Maybe one day. One day when I win the lottery/suddenly become the most sought after legal advice ever/find gold! Till then, I'll be dreaming...

Tuesday thoughts featuring John Mayer

John Mayer is in Columbia right now. WHAT? Who in their right mind chooses Columbia to practice?? Apparently, he is "locked" away in our coliseum...weird. I mean I like Columbia and all, but lets get real, ain't a whole lot going on round these parts. (like my redneck impression?) Maybe that is precisely the reason he chose Cola. though, maybe he wanted to relax, not be bothered, or maybe he just wanted to come see me. HA! Yeah, notsomuch=) The Oscar nominees: What are we thinking?? I definitely think I need to see The Hurt Locker, honestly....I had never even heard of it??? Another confession, I haven't seen a LOT of the movies that are up for awards...need to get to the cinema asap. I will say although I loved the Blind Side, I don't really think it is "BEST PICTURE" material. I know some of y'all aren't gonna like this, but from what I have seen AVATAR deserves it. Say what you want, but until you go see it , don't judge! I

Love her or Hate her?

Taylor Swift. Let's talk about her. I, personally, have always loved her. I realize she may not have the best VOICE out there in the industry but obviously, as you can tell from her awards and album sales, that doesn't always make or break a star. I think she is truly talented because she is a real singer in my eyes! Now a days, there are so many "singers" in pop especially who can't sing worth a crap and a computer is used to make their voice sound better, they don't do anything but shake their hips basically. Although Taylor's actual voice is not my favorite, she is entertaining and her songs are FUN to sing, atleast I think they are. (you may or may not be able to find me belting them alone in my car, and I CANNOT sing a lick my friends.) I enjoy her songs though because they singable, and I like the lyrics. She amazes me that she writes her own song and plays an instrument *get this* as she sings. WOW. There really aren't that many femal
