Sniff, Sniff. I have a TODDLER?? What? Seriously, that first e-mail that popped up from Baby Center changing the subject to "Your toddler" from "Your baby" definitely threw me for a loop. I mean, I get that she is technically a "toddler" now, but let's be honest...she is still MY baby:)
Anyways, this was the gist of the e-mail talking about what my THIRTEEN month old may be interested in today...and y'all, seriously...it is DEAD on:
The toddler tornado
A 13-month-old is a whirlwind of activity. Your child probably thinks it's fun to push, throw, and knock everything down. She's not being deliberately destructive. Rather, she views the whole world as one big science experiment: What happens if I do this? And this? And this? It's exciting to be able to make things happen, whether it's unrolling all the toilet paper or yanking books off a shelf – again and again.
Games that involve putting objects in containers and dumping them out again are likely to appeal to her. Bring on the blocks in buckets and the pots and plastic containers that fit inside one another – and can be banged together. She'll thrill to the loud sounds. Stacking, nesting, and pop-up toys will fascinate for months to come.
I'm not going to continue the monthly photo sessions and updates, but I do have to update on my girl every now and then. She is NON stop these days. She toddles around every waking second. And all of the above describes her to a "T." Her absolute favorite games/toys are blocks that she can knock down or our Melissa and Doug nesting blocks, or the tunnel toy where she puts the ball in over and over and over and watches it fall down thru the holes. She is constantly on the go...whether it be trying to sneak and climb up the stairs, open and close cabinet doors, go thru my bathroom cabinets and take out EVERY single thing, or herd objects. She will take all of the shoes off of her closet shelf and move them to the humidifier box beside it. One by one. She LOVES her climber/slide she got for her birthday party and loves rides in her wagon and cozy coupe.
Little C has also started to sow her oats a bit lately...it's really quite comical. She's just testing out every bit of independence possible and it makes me smile. *Except when I have told her for the 10th time to sit down in her high chair and she just giggles incessantly as she continues to stand up and I sit her little hiney down for the 10th time!* (Our high chair did not come with a strap so for the time being we tie a scarf around her like a belt...hey, whatever works, right?? She can stand up still, but not go anywhere...must get strap ASAP) She has definitely started to be picky about what she eats some nights. One night she will gobble up every last green bean/corn/veggie I give her and then the VERY next night will act like I'm feeding her cardboard.
I have a feeling we are about to enter the land of "toddlerhood" faster than I would like!!
Some recent pics of my toddler....
She takes off right to the stairs any chance she gets (yes, we have a gate...but i hate it, so I just bought two new ones and we just need to install them)
Her slide!
Here she goes....
I let her climb up while I followed...for a little photo op
LOOK at those chunky thighs:)
"I'm faster than you, mama!"
Walkin' walkin' walkin'
"do huh?"
She loves this chair.
She likes to play with this ball in a plastic cup...
Mid blink
Only sucks her thumb when a lovie is in her hand...love:)
xoxo.
