I mentioned this back a couple of years ago…but thought I would talk about it again. We all have things we do or try to do that save our sanity. Things that help us cope with the day to day stresses in life. One of mine is being able to run home during lunch and get some things done around the house. I went home for lunch almost every day when we lived downtown….the drive was 8-10 minutes tops. But, when we moved to Chapin and I was still working downtown, it was totally out of the question. But, NOW that I work closer to home it is an option again. I don’t do it quite as much as the drive is a good 15 minutes…but I still try and go once a week and it helps me out SO much.
I am unwilling to sacrifice my time with Collins to do housework. Just ain’t gonna happen…and lately, being pregnant and all, after she goes to bed around 8, the LAST thing I want to do is clean/laundry/dishes/etc. I mean, the LAST thing…generally I head straight for the couch. This means I spend naptimes on weekends doing stuff when we are home, but that’s okay…that’s just the phase of life we are in now. And some weekends when we are out of town or too busy…it just doesn’t get done… again, have I mentioned how much I have had to learn to deal with a messy house? There are just way more important things.
So, take today, for example. I was able to do the dishes, start the dishwasher, clean all the kitchen counters, put all the toys away, start a load of laundry, vacuum the den and upload my most recent pictures from my camera to my computer. I have so much more energy in the middle of the day to do these kinds of chores and it doesn’t take away from my precious time with my girl and her daddy. It’s such a good feeling too when we come home after a long day and the house is neat and the chores are done.
Anyways…that’s all I’ve got for today. Just documenting how I save my sanity during this phase of our life;-)
Happy day!
xoxo
