Family Vacay 2013: Recap part TWO.

Monday thru Friday was RELAXATION mode for the Glenn family (well, relaxing for us at least, y’all know we still did and went plenty).  And it was HEAVEN.  We slept really late every morning…seriously, still not sure how we lucked out with our amazing little sleeper, but Collins slept till 9 or 9:30 every morning and 10:15 one morning…of course she was staying up a little later than normal, but it was WONDERFUL for us.

Monday night we headed over to Hilton Head.  I wanted to run to a store there and it’s not that far from Beaufort, so we ended up going into Harbor Town and taking Collins to the playground and park there and running around the waterfront area.  She LOVED it.  We also let her listen to Greg Russell (every night in the summer he does two shows to entertain kids, really cute and fun!)  Mikey’s family grew up vacationing in Hilton Head and this was a tradition for him.  We will definitely have to take her back when she’s older and can enjoy it more.  I miss our condo in Hilton Head for a few reasons, the beach is beautiful there and there is SO much to do.  Whereas Beaufort is much more laid back, make your own fun…but y’all know Beaufort has my heart…I just miss the action sometimes tooJ  It was a fun little nights.

We were literally on the beach for at least 5 hours Mon., Tues., Thurs. and Friday.  But, poor C got the WORST diaper rash ever (beach sand + swim diapers + poop = bad combo!) so we gave the beach a rest on Wednesday and headed downtown to enjoy the waterfront park in Beaufort and eat lunch at one of my favorites, Plums.  We came back and I read by the pool ALONE for two hours while Collins slept, it was pure heaven.  Collins REALLY LOVED and took to the pool on this trip.  We got her one of those little swimmy life jacket things and she was obsessed.  She’s always like the pool, but this time she felt comfy just hanging by herself.  Can’t believe how fast that happenedL

Our friends came down Thursday to stay on Fripp and we joined them on the beach all day Thursday and the girls had the best time playing together.  It was nice for Collins to have some company pushing around that wagon all day!  This was definitely her favorite thing to do on the beach…she pushed the wagon up and down the beach for hours.  Thankfully, Mikey doesn’t really like to just “sit” on the beach so he was good chasing C around most of the time.  She absolutely LOVED it out there….the water, the sand, everything.  Her favorite was when the little “pools” would form on the beach; she played in those for a while.  We had the absolute BEST weather.  It has rained SO DAMN much here in South Carolina this summer that I was nervous.  But, we lucked out and it was gorgeous…thank goodness!  Tuesday and Wednesday nights we really did NOTHING.  We had dance parties on the porch in our jammies, went on a run, walked to the dock, and once C went to bed Mikey and I were couch potatoes.  Very nice.  Thursday we ventured back out to go to dinner just the three of us…the best seafood in Beaufort, at Dockside.  Of course, a photo shoot ensued…because we had one there last year too.  DUH.  The week was so laid back and perfect.  A good, old fashion family vacation full of relaxation, love, play, sleep, and sun.  My heart was so full.

We had a LARGE crew come in and join for the weekend and it was FUN.  My mom and two of her girlfriends (and one of their husbands) got their late Thursday  night, so all of us went to the beach together all day Friday.  By Friday night we have 14 adults and 5 kids at the house for the weekend!!!  (More on that next post)

xoxo

Takeover Tuesday

Surprise Caro, guess who hacked into your blog! I know what you are saying to yourself...I can’t believe it’s taken this long for me to mess with you on here. For those of you who haven’t figured it out yet, this obviously is not your sweet Caroline, this is her wonderful, sarcastic, fun loving, baby daddy (or is it babies’ daddy now?), also known as her husband. (Caro at her finest, throwing me a great 25th birthday celebration) Where do I begin…. I guess we can talk about how this marital bliss came to be before we talk about the author of this blog and how amazing she. Caroline has been the love of my life for as long as I can remember, we were actually first grade boyfriend and girlfriend if you can believe it. After first grade, there was the great divide, as both of us went to different schools the following year. Finally, after 10 agonizing, lonely years we were reunited at a house party our senior year in high school. I, naturally, had always kept an eye on her throughou...

What's in a name?

I tell ya, the name game is HARD. Really hard. I never thought that I'd be 27 years old and pregnant and not know what I wanted to name my child. I *think* we have come up with the one , but I'm not quite ready to put it out for the world to see...you know, don't want to many people rushing to get monogrammed bubbles. Ha! Jokes! Anyways...so I can look back and remember what all we went thru to come up with a name in 20 years I am going to lay it all out there. I'll start with saying I want a family name to be somewhere in my children's names. It doesn't have to be a first name, but some name in the child's name I want to be from a family member/family. We'll start with boys names, because they got taken off the table when we found out it was a GIRL..this will be short. Mikey's middle name is Thomas...his grandfather's name is Thomas. So...we always said Thomas would be in our son's name. I always thought it would be cool to do a Tho...

My Pinterest inspired master bedroom makeover part one.

The BEFORE pictures. I've been itching to re-do my master bedroom for quite some time now. I am one of those people that likes to re decorate quite often...unfortunately for my bank account. Mikey's mom bought him a full queen sized bedroom suite when he graduated college, which was wonderful. It is very nice furniture and has served us well. But, I am SOOO sick of all the dark matchy-matchy look it brings. I will use this furniture again in a guest bedroom one day...but for now, it's time to retire it from my master. All of my bedding and rug I had previously...I've now had this zebra/brown/green theme for almost 4 years...so over it! Fortunately for us...my brother and SIL got a new bed...so what do we get?? Their old KING size bed!! Woohoo. I do NOT like for people to touch me when I sleep, I need my space...I've been wanting a king for so long. Even though our room isn't the biggest the king is working out okay...we aren't going to be in this h...
