Thrilling post, right?
I want to document all of this though so I will remember for a future Glenn babe(s)??
We were gifted the Beaba Babycook at a shower and put it to use! I registered for it not knowing whether I would use it or not...but since we got it, we decided to make the commitment and do it. This really is SO unlike me. If y'all know me, you know I don't like to cook and I don't really do much cooking in the house...thankful Mikey enjoys it for the most part. So, how does someone who is totally OUT of place in the kitchen decide to make her own baby food? ............Sorry, no big life changing answer here...I just wanted to give it a try. And we are SO glad we did...it is SO darn cheap and SO easy.
Now, to be honest...Collins still hasn't tried a large variety of foods, but we are okay with that. Mikey and I don't eat a huge variety of food...so that's just what it is, Collins probably won't either. She'll get what we cook for her:) I also don't think she will be eating "baby food" (aka the pureed stuff) for that long. Going to day care, we really have no option right now. They will only feed her baby food...but we have already started to give her table food at home and she loves it.
Anyways...the babycook is so dang easy to use, even I can do it;-) Seriously, you cut up whatever you are cooking a little, throw it in and steam it for about 15 minutes and then puree it...and DONE. One sweet potato will make like 5 nights worth of meals right now. You cannot beat that price. So far, from the babycook we have made sweet potatoes, broccoli, apples, zucchini, squash (all sorts of varieties), carrots, and green beans. It's pretty awesome. I just make big batches, and freeze it. They make these cool little ice cube tray things for baby food and you can just pop them out to take to day care or heat at home and voila, you are done!
Starting around 6 months, Collins went to 4 breastfeeding/bottles a day and 3 "meals". Her meals are typically 1 fruit, 1 veggie and then oatmeal cereal. She hasn't really turned her head at anything. I know I need to introduce some more foods soon...but what we are doing now works. For night time, I am starting to give her table food, so she basically gets small portions of whatever we are having. So far, so good.
We finally got her highchair painted and I am in love. I always wanted a highchair that looked like a real piece of furniture, something that doesn't stress me out sitting in my kitchen because of it's obnoxious plastic-y babyness (I've got enough of that stuff elsewhere!). This is a solid wood highchair that will be used for years and I hope to pass down!
Testing it out. Tastes yummy.
Sweet boo.
xoxo.
