Thirty and thankful.

So, I told you guys I would be back with a more uplifting post to celebrate turning 30 and here it is.  No more talk about THIRTY.  It is what it is and I’ll deal with it.  Let’s talk about what really matters.   The FIVE things that really matter as I enter this new decade of life: 1.         I have been LOVED tremendously by family and friends: My  husband  is my rock.  He loves me, supports me, keeps me grounded, listens to me, and most of all makes me LAUGH on a daily basis.  I have a healthy, beautiful  daughter  who is fiercely independent and a mama’s girl all wrapped into one.  My  parents  are unbelievable.  No, really.  They are.  Thirty years of unconditional love, support, cheering, and laughter; they truly are my biggest role models and the absolute BEST grandparents.  I am fortunate enough to have more BEST girlfriends  than fingers.  Seriously.  That’s amazing.  These girls are there for me thru it ALL and make life that much better.  2.         I LOVE others TREMENDOUSL

The Friday Five.

Linking up today with these fun ladies.  1. It's  birthday weekend!!! Woohoo. We actually started the festivities last night. My actual birthday is on Monday... And who wants to celebrate on a Monday? Not me. So we went out to dinner with our big group of friends last night and it was fab. So fab that my BFF drove all the way from ATLANTA to surprise me. I know... She's the bomb. I missed my very new mommy friends last night but am so thankful for all those that came to celebrate. My surprise visitor! Or big group:  The girls:  2. Mikey and I are off to Beaufort this weekend, ALONE. Woah. Originally we were supposed to take his family but he surprised me and thought it would be nice to have a weekend away with just the two of us for my birthday. So this girl is pumped about sleeping late and doing whatever in the world we please!!!! 3. My girl is getting more entertaining by the day. My heart could literally explode in a million pieces wit

{our weekend}

This weekend kinda sucked.  Just being honest here.  C woke up  Friday morning  with a 103 fever and for the FIRST time in her little life, threw up.  OH MY WORD…my mama heart broke right there and then.  She was pitiful and spent an hour just crying and shaking…poor little boo did NOT feel good.  I put her in a lukewarm bath and that brought the fever down to 101…and after allowing some Tylenol to take effect, she finally napped IN OUR BED (that never, ever, ever happens) before we went to the doctor.    But, seriously…….Collins hasn’t been that sick of a child so it really sucked seeing her so pitiful.  All of Friday was the pits.  We ended up going to the Doctor FRIDAY, SATURDAY, and SUNDAY for shots of rocephin.  She had some type of strep…not strep throat…something I can’t pronounce, but it sucked.   Luckily, by  Saturday morning she was fever free and felt 100%.  Saturday we spent our day playing, cleaning and helping (watching) daddy build our new fence.  Mikey and I did head ou

The name game.

My girls and I were talking about all of our daughter’s names last night on text…and one dubbed them “the new, modernized American girl collection.”  It made me laugh…but it is SO true.  Here’s the rundown of my best friend’s daughter’s names that were born in 2011-2013:  Some are still traditional, but lots of them are NOT, including my own child. Mary McMclaughlin (Mary Mac), Annie, Mary Brooks, Harper, Collins, Lochlan, Kemper, Saylor and Piper.  But, seriously……..  Collins, Lochlan, Kemper, Saylor and Piper?!?  It’s a WHOLE new generation folks.   Out of those last 5 that are “different names”, Kemper is the only family name…the rest of ours are just random! It got me thinking about how names come and go and how each generation has certain names that are popular…so I looked them up just for fun. 20’s: Ruth, Mary, Dorothy (I think I have a great aunt Ruth and aunt Mary from all 4 grandparents….) 50’s: Linda, Susan, Barbara (Susan is my mother in law’s name) 60-70’s: Lisa, Michelle,

7 days.

7 more days as a “20 something.”  Ouch.  This terrifies me.  I know it shouldn’t.  But, it does.  Just being honest here.    Let me start this post with this  disclaimer :  I am BEYOND blessed.  I am married to an amazing guy; we have a beautiful daughter, I have the absolute BEST family, and am surrounded by AMAZING friends.  Mikey and I both have good jobs in careers we enjoy.  We have a nice roof over our heads and can put food on our tables.   So, Caroline…what’s the problem!?!   I really think it all has to do with the anxiety I feel when I think about just HOW DAMN FAST life goes by.  And of course, we are reminded all the time that for some…life is WAY TOO short, and that hurts like hell.  And I think, inevitably, it is just engrained in me that the OLDER I get the closer I get to leaving this wonderful life and the less amount of time I have to enjoy it.  Pretty depressing, right?  I know…in all reality and hopefully more than likely, I still have MANY, MANY years left on this

Family Vacay 2013: Recap part THREE

As I mentioned…we had a BIG, FUN weekend.  My parents invited two couples, and my brother and I each invited a couple…so we had 14 adults and 5 kids in the house…it was pure chaos but I LOVED it.  Obviously, one can only handle that much chaos a short amount of time…but we sure had a BLAST.  Everyone arrived by Friday late afternoon and we spent the evening boozing and hanging out.  The kids all got along so well, Belle really took to our friend’s one year old…someone new to follow her around besides Collins:) Saturday we headed out on the boat as early as we possibly could.  We spent the day on Otter Island, just like being on the beach, but a private one as there is hardly ever anyone else out there.  It was SO. MUCH. FUN.  And the weather was AMAZING.  I mean, the PERFECT beach day.  Makes me sad writing about this in September knowing it won’t happen again for a LONG time…boo hiss.  Saturday night  was much

{our weekend: busy busy}

Whew!!  I’m glad we have had some relaxing weekends as of late, because this one was the COMPLETE OPPOSITE!  I always feel like the weekend really begins  on Thursday night  if we have something fun going on/an event to attend.  My awesome best friend built the most AMAZING house that was featured in Columbia’s 2013 parade of homes, so we went to the preview party on Thursday to celebrate.  Good times were had, wish we could afford that dream home!  Seriously, amazing.  I mean, dream kitchen.... Friday night  was another FUN one, we hosted a wedding shower for the same bestie (she’s been a busy girl!) and her boo.  It was a beautiful night and we had the best time toasting the soon to be Tuttle’s.  I was a host and was running around like a maniac during  lunch Friday  and immediately after work trying to get everything together.  I LOVE to throw a party, but man is it hard work!  Pic overload, but I thought everything looked so pretty:)

One of those nights.

I forgot to post this yesterday. This was from Wednesday night, last night we had the opportunity to go view my kick ass friend's house she built that was in the 2013 parade of homes. So proud!  ****** To be fair, I thought I should talk about our night last night.  We have LOTS of good nights.  We have lots of fun nights.  We have lots of special nights.  But, we also have some nights that just aren’t.  After I raved recently about a really good evening, just to make sure I don’t only document the “rainbows and butterflies” I wanted to talk about last night.   My little angel baby pitched about  6  fits in the span of 2.5 hours last night.  None of them lasted long, but HAVE MERCY, she was fierce.  It was her way or the highway.  Or so she thought.  Not in this household, little one…mama can’t raise no spoiled little baby:)  (I’m trying not to anyways).  I don’ t know whether she was teething, sick, or just being a TODDLER…but goodness gracious…she was determined to get her way an

{our weekend: not in pictures}

Well…darn.  It’s rare that I don’t take ANY pictures on a weekend.  That’s just not cool.  But, true to what I said in my “the Friday five” post that umm…didn’t post until MONDAY…this weekend was pretty laid back, except for a very sad loss for my beloved Gamecocks.   On Friday night we headed to a little family pizza party and ate outside and enjoyed the BEAUTIFUL weather.  And let’s be honest, when going out to eat these days, outside is SO much easier with a toddler.  This restaurant is pretty loud inside…and has someone singing on Friday nights, but still…being outside means we don’t have to worry about C if she screams or wants to walk around a bit.  There was only one other family eating outdoors and they had young kids too:-) Then, we headed to…THE GROCERY STORE!  Gettin’ wild on our Friday nights, aren’t we?!  But, we needed to stock up to get ready to host supper club for the BIG (sad) game.  Once we got home and put Collins to bed, Mikey and I sat on the screened in porch wat

The Friday Five.

*** Spoiler alert, it's MONDAY and this never posted:(  Booo, don't know what happened, i'm not even going to worry about linking up but just wanted to still get it on here.  And in other news, my fears came true and my gamecocks LOST a big one.  Major sads.  We played like crap, our defense was non existent.  Moving on now...... The Friday Five. 1.       We had family pictures made on the beach Monday and just saw a sneak peek…can’t wait to see the rest …will have to do a FULL recap later, they are BEAUTIFUL!!!  So glad we did this.  Photographer is based out of Columbia, SC; she is amazing and was my cousin in law before her first husband/ my cousin was killed in a car accident…so, so sad.  But, she is a beautiful person and I am so glad we stay in touch.  {HATTONS PHOTOGRAPHY, for anyone local} 2.       I really can’t think about our game tomorrow.  I am going to be a NERVOUS wreck.  Fo’ real.  If it were a home game, I wouldn’t be that worried…but it’s

Family Vacay 2013: Recap part TWO.

Monday thru Friday was RELAXATION mode for the Glenn family (well, relaxing for us at least, y’all know we still did and went plenty).  And it was HEAVEN.  We slept really late every morning…seriously, still not sure how we lucked out with our amazing little sleeper, but Collins slept till 9 or 9:30 every morning and 10:15 one morning…of course she was staying up a little later than normal, but it was WONDERFUL for us.  Monday night we headed over to Hilton Head.  I wanted to run to a store there and it’s not that far from Beaufort, so we ended up going into Harbor Town and taking Collins to the playground and park there and running around the waterfront area.  She LOVED it.  We also let her listen to Greg Russell (every night in the summer he does two shows to entertain kids, really cute and fun!)  Mikey’s family grew up vacationing in Hilton Head and this was a tradition for him.  We will definitely have to take her back when she’s older and can enjoy it more.  I miss ou
