We have put a LOT of thought into the nursery over the past couple of months. My ideas were ALL over the place before we knew the sex...the sex determined what kind of furniture we were going to get, maybe what color, etc. Only because I have a bedroom suite that I would want a little boy to use one day, so I would have probably only needed a crib if it was a boy. I thought LONG and hard about color schemes and what I wanted the overall feel of the nursery to be. I wanted calm, serene and sophisticated to describe the nursery. I'm enlisting the help of my uber talented sister in law who is an interior designer....so hopefully my ideas will come together beautifully:) The color scheme is silvery gray, pale pink and white.
The ceiling is going to be pale pink...because I am doing gray/silvery walls, I wanted a touch of pink in there somewhere. Sherwin Williams Venus Pink.
This is Sherwin Williams nebulous white, same color family as the gray, looks much whiter in person. The idea is this: I wanted one wall to be a "focal" wall, I've tossed around lots of different ideas and have finally decided to try a stencil on the wall. I haven't picked out the exact stencil yet, but I think it will look like this...so that one wall we will paint nebulous white, so the silvery gray color will still be the predominant wall color. I'm going into this with no expectations, if I hate it...we will just paint over it!
And this is my silvery gray color I chose for the walls, Sherwin Williams Passive. I love it! I am so excited to start the painting and see how it all comes together.
Next up, the glider. Something else that I gave lots of thought too. I was told by many people to invest in a nice one, even though they are expensive. This is where I will be spending a LOT of time and I want it to be comfortable and of good quality. I want a WHITE glider, I know...sounds crazy. But, I didn't want to do pink in the hopes that if we were to have a boy next I could reuse and a khaki color just didn't go with my color scheme. White is perfect and it is the exact look I was going for. I'm not that crazy though, I did get one that is a slipcover so that I can wash it. The one pictured below is from Pottery Barn kids, that is not where mine is from...I got mine from a local furniture store, but they look very similar so you get the point.
Now, for her crib and dresser!! Again, decisions...decisions! I ended up going with the Young America brand of furniture (made by Stanley)...they have beautiful lines, wonderful quality and TONS of pieces so I can add on to her collection for years to come (in lots of color choices too). I made the decision to go with the crib that converts to a double bed, this will be her furniture for a LONG time. We went with the Isabella collection in antique white, I am obsessed. I think it is beautiful and absolutely PERFECT for a little girl:) We are fortunate to have an amazing baby furniture store in Columbia called Baby Furniture Plus (they were rated the number ONE store in the county in the baby bargains book). The prices are amazing as is the service. The crib and dresser were in within two weeks! Eeekkk!! Waiting on the nursery to be painted before we go pick it up.
Detail work.
Dresser.
Crib.
And for now...the last thing we will look at for today are chandaliers, every little girls room needs one, right?!? Gahh...I sure think so....husband may not agree:) These two are from Pottery Barn Kids and I love them both, one of these gorgeous darlings will grace the nursery, just not sure which one yet!!
Okay, that's enough baby talk for now. Still looking at rugs and artwork for the walls, fabric, etc. Much more to come!
