Friday thoughts

I AM SO FREAKING SICK OF HEARING ABOUT CHARLIE SHEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whew. Glad that is out there. I am not one to obsess over celebrities, never have been. I just don't care...they are just people. It infuriates me to no end how Americans have this sick obsession with celebrities and people become "famous" for the MOST ridiculous things, i.e., Jersey Shore, Bachelor, etc. I hate those shows. I know a lot of people love reality tv and a lot of people use it as their "break" from reality, which we all need, but good lord...let's get a grip. Whatever insane things Charlie Sheen is doing, it AIN'T newsworthy, nor stupid Lindsay Lohan for that matter. They wanna ruin their life, let em'! Stop talking about him 24/7, is that what our media has come to? I read a great article on cnn.com yesterday comparing news coverage of Sheen to our fallen soldiers, it's nothing short of heartbreaking. Our TRUE heroes (troops, fireman, police, etc.) deserve WAY more attention than the latest newsworthy(less) celebrity.

UGH. Rant over. Sorry, just had to get that out there.

With that being said...I wake up this morning to turn on the Today Show and learn about the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. It is so mind numbing if you truly stop and think about all the things that go on in our world that you have no control over. These are the important things the news shows (yes, today show...i'm looking at you!) should cover. I am so saddened to hear of all the loss that has occurred in Japan, if that doesn't make you stop and take a minute to realize how precious life is, I don't know what will.

A friend of mine just found out her husband was diagnosed with cancer...I still can't quite grasp how these horrible things happen, but the outlook is positive and I pray that the doctors are able to remove all of the cancerous cells next week.

We have no plans this weekend, what!?! I am so excited about this. *Well, with the exception of a birthday party for a sweet ONE year old* I think we are finally going to see The King's Speech tonight, hello date night!! It's been a while. I'm looking forward to sleeping in (yes, that's my favorite thing to do!), working out, cleaning and SHOPPING!!

I think social media is such a catch 22. It is SO time consuming sometimes, and yes...I realize I don't have to make it a priority. But, I use twitter and blog reading as my "outlet." The thing is, I get addicted because you find so much good information, deals, etc. via social media that i would have never known about...it's a vicious cycle...i just keep coming back for more! It truly is amazing how many deals I have been able to take advantage of by being on twitter or reading someone's blog. I almost don't like to buy anything anymore without seeing what other people have said about it, or seeing if there are any coupons, etc. But this all takes TIME!

Okay, sorry the jumbled thoughts today! It's Friday folks, and that's just how it is:)

  1. I couldn't agree more about Charlie Sheen! Why is he so great, and why on EARTH did he sell out two theatres with 5,000 seats at least? WHAT is he going to do? Stand there and say "Winning!" ?! Haha! Glad I'm not alone on that, and hope you're having a good week! Virginia www.sweetcarolinagirlvm.blogspot.com

My Pinterest inspired master bedroom makeover part one.

The BEFORE pictures. I've been itching to re-do my master bedroom for quite some time now. I am one of those people that likes to re decorate quite often...unfortunately for my bank account. Mikey's mom bought him a full queen sized bedroom suite when he graduated college, which was wonderful. It is very nice furniture and has served us well. But, I am SOOO sick of all the dark matchy-matchy look it brings. I will use this furniture again in a guest bedroom one day...but for now, it's time to retire it from my master. All of my bedding and rug I had previously...I've now had this zebra/brown/green theme for almost 4 years...so over it! Fortunately for us...my brother and SIL got a new bed...so what do we get?? Their old KING size bed!! Woohoo. I do NOT like for people to touch me when I sleep, I need my space...I've been wanting a king for so long. Even though our room isn't the biggest the king is working out okay...we aren't going to be in this h

2019 family Village Creek trip

Our 2019 summer family vacation was everything I could have asked for, and more!  This year, my parents and nephew joined us for the week so we had extra fun!  (and extra chaos of course, too!)  We did ALL the things, but yet also did ALL the relaxing.  We arrived on G and T's actual, bday so we started our trip with a special birthday lunch in downtown Beaufort with just the boys since Collins rode down with my mom.  We also finally experienced the drive in movie that night for Toy Story 4 and it was AWESOME!  We only had one day of cloudy weather so that was awesome!  We ventured to Bohicket Marina, Harbor Town, Harbor Island, Edisto Island, Botany Bay, our favorite sandbar AND downtown Beaufort by boat, we had a ball!   My dad got some AMAZING fireworks and we had a little show for the culdesac, so much fun!!  Mikey and I even got to sneak out one night for a date night, headed to our fav, Sal

Takeover Tuesday

Surprise Caro, guess who hacked into your blog! I know what you are saying to yourself...I can’t believe it’s taken this long for me to mess with you on here. For those of you who haven’t figured it out yet, this obviously is not your sweet Caroline, this is her wonderful, sarcastic, fun loving, baby daddy (or is it babies’ daddy now?), also known as her husband. (Caro at her finest, throwing me a great 25th birthday celebration) Where do I begin…. I guess we can talk about how this marital bliss came to be before we talk about the author of this blog and how amazing she. Caroline has been the love of my life for as long as I can remember, we were actually first grade boyfriend and girlfriend if you can believe it. After first grade, there was the great divide, as both of us went to different schools the following year. Finally, after 10 agonizing, lonely years we were reunited at a house party our senior year in high school. I, naturally, had always kept an eye on her throughou
