Throw Back....Monday?

So, last week was insane. I was really busy at work and one of my best friends was getting married so there was lots going on. Hence, not much blogging....so now I am doing my throw back Thursday on a MONDAY, which is also, June 21....aka, the LONGEST day of the year. As if we need Monday to be any longer than it already is!?! I'm exhausted this morning after an action packed weekend full of wedding festivities, birthdays, and fathers day! I just wanna go crawl under the sheets for a bit longer....sigh.

So, last week....last year, we were on our honeymoon~ obviously=) We chose to go to Maroma Beach, which is located in the Riviera Maya portion of Mexico. Neither of us were too particular about where we went, we both just wanted to RELAX and do it somewhere tropical, not too far, and with an all inclusive option. We will save the "sight see" trips for later...I just wanted a beach, a book, my boy, and some booze for a week. We ended up going with the Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun resort; it was pretty phenomenal. It was hardly at full capacity, our honeymoon took place just a few weeks after the outbreak of the dreadful swine flu and so many people canceled trips to Mexico because of it! Didn't bother us a bit...more service and room for us=) We really didn't do much besides sleep in, eat, and lay by the water, it was perfect. The only "day trip" activity we planned was a zip lining excursion complete with a trip to a "cenote." It was so much fun, at first I was scared to death to zip line...the older I get the more I hate heights...I used to be such a dare devil, not anymore! I ended up enjoying it thoroughly though... I even went upside down!! Yay for me. We also took part in a "couples" spa half day, the spa at this place was AHHHMAZING. The whole resort was brand new, so everything was top of the line, the spa definitely held it's own. It was Mikey's first spa experience, he was pretty pleased. The service at the resort was amazing...the name is Secrets because they put a "secret" box in each room where the room service can be delivered without, ahem...interrupting you. There were 7 different restaurants and most were amazing. It's so funny, normally I am an all "american" food type eater...don't really have a very sophisticated palate so to speak; but my favorite restaurants here were the Japanese, Italian, and Mexican ones....thus the reason I came home from the honeymoon with an extra five pounds! We had a wonderful honeymoon, I so wish I could make a trip like this an annual event! Maybe one day....

Our actual "honeymoon" night we stayed at a B & B in downtown Beaufort, it was so charming... I guess it would have been nice if we would have been there long enough to actually enjoy it! We literally got home around 1:30...and were gone the next day by 10:30...we didn't even take advantage of the brunch they offer. Oh well, it was so pretty though....

This was the view from our room in Beaufort

My Pinterest inspired master bedroom makeover part one.

The BEFORE pictures. I've been itching to re-do my master bedroom for quite some time now. I am one of those people that likes to re decorate quite often...unfortunately for my bank account. Mikey's mom bought him a full queen sized bedroom suite when he graduated college, which was wonderful. It is very nice furniture and has served us well. But, I am SOOO sick of all the dark matchy-matchy look it brings. I will use this furniture again in a guest bedroom one day...but for now, it's time to retire it from my master. All of my bedding and rug I had previously...I've now had this zebra/brown/green theme for almost 4 years...so over it! Fortunately for us...my brother and SIL got a new bed...so what do we get?? Their old KING size bed!! Woohoo. I do NOT like for people to touch me when I sleep, I need my space...I've been wanting a king for so long. Even though our room isn't the biggest the king is working out okay...we aren't going to be in this h

2019 family Village Creek trip

Our 2019 summer family vacation was everything I could have asked for, and more!  This year, my parents and nephew joined us for the week so we had extra fun!  (and extra chaos of course, too!)  We did ALL the things, but yet also did ALL the relaxing.  We arrived on G and T's actual, bday so we started our trip with a special birthday lunch in downtown Beaufort with just the boys since Collins rode down with my mom.  We also finally experienced the drive in movie that night for Toy Story 4 and it was AWESOME!  We only had one day of cloudy weather so that was awesome!  We ventured to Bohicket Marina, Harbor Town, Harbor Island, Edisto Island, Botany Bay, our favorite sandbar AND downtown Beaufort by boat, we had a ball!   My dad got some AMAZING fireworks and we had a little show for the culdesac, so much fun!!  Mikey and I even got to sneak out one night for a date night, headed to our fav, Sal

Takeover Tuesday

Surprise Caro, guess who hacked into your blog! I know what you are saying to yourself...I can’t believe it’s taken this long for me to mess with you on here. For those of you who haven’t figured it out yet, this obviously is not your sweet Caroline, this is her wonderful, sarcastic, fun loving, baby daddy (or is it babies’ daddy now?), also known as her husband. (Caro at her finest, throwing me a great 25th birthday celebration) Where do I begin…. I guess we can talk about how this marital bliss came to be before we talk about the author of this blog and how amazing she. Caroline has been the love of my life for as long as I can remember, we were actually first grade boyfriend and girlfriend if you can believe it. After first grade, there was the great divide, as both of us went to different schools the following year. Finally, after 10 agonizing, lonely years we were reunited at a house party our senior year in high school. I, naturally, had always kept an eye on her throughou
