Another catch up post-
Collins' elementary school does a HUGE trunk or treat before Halloween (Friday October 19th), I am homeroom mom (I know, who am I even??!) and was in charge of decorating the trunk- I went with the easiest/most kid friendly theme I could find on Pinterest, and that was candy land. I hated to do something too scary since it was for first graders... it turned out cuter than I thought it would, but definitely nothing crazy intense. The kids had a ball and got SO much candy.
After trunk or treat, we hung out with friends for a bit before heading home to crash. That Saturday was spent running errands and bday party attending- and then we spent Saturday night at some other friends house- very casual and low key- cooked out while the kids played and then we got to sit outside by the fire and watch football - a perfect little fall evening.
After church that Sunday, we hit up a local pumpkin "patch." I'm on strike against the outrageously overpriced farm/pumpkin patches that are all the rage these days... no lie- the most popular one around here would cost our family $60 (and that does NOT include the pumpkins) - just for a hayride, a playground, and a pumpkin patch. Just not worth it to me. There is a church nearby that has TONS of pumpkins on display and they also put out some little photo op boards and bales of hay... they were even painting faces (for free!) the day we went. My kids enjoyed it just fine and we saved $60.
