Hope everyone had a wonderful fall weekend, ours was pretty special, filled with two big firsts for all the kiddos- more to come after I finally catch up with all the other craziness!
On Saturday October 27th, we got to celebrate our good buddy Leo's FIFTH birthday. Leo's mommy and daddy are good friends of ours, and in fact, Leo's mom and I have known each other since we were BABIES. Leo was born with SMA, Type 1. The diagnosis was devastating, but his mom and dad are, quite literally, super heroes and have worked their fannies off loving this little boy and going to the ends of the Earth to help cure SMA. They have started a foundation that helps families obtain much needed equipment to help the care of a child with SMA. They are also spearheading the effort to build an inclusive playground at one of our local parks- I'm telling you, they are rockstars. It was such a privilege to be able to help celebrate Leo turning FIVE. They have a 5k, a family walk, and a lionheart dash for exceptional athletes- they also have tons of other fun for kids, including a dress up contest. We had a ball.
Graham was the only one who wasn't so sure about being near the pumpkin "guts"- Colls dug right in and helped clean her out!
Man, it sure is tough being a mama sometimes. Collins' first grade class does a "pumpkin investigation" on Halloween- it's a pretty big event, and requires several parent volunteers. Since I am homeroom mom, I wanted to be there to help out. Of course, it was the same time as the boys fall party at preschool, so Mikey went to that. And not that the boys don't appreciate their daddy being there, you just know how it is with mamas- Thomas looked at me that night and said "mommy, how come you were da only mommy who wasn't at da pahty"? I mean, have you ever? Dagger to the heart. (Of course that wasn't true, there were a couple other moms who weren't there). But, still- that's not what they see.
Regardless, the two events were both fun!
Time for trick or treat! *and I swear I didn't force a theme costume this year... the boys wanted to be power rangers, and Collins actually wanted to join in.
I can't believe Halloween is over and it is already NOVEMBER 5th. Before you know it, we will be celebrating NYE.
