Design decisions

Although I can pin the hell out of some gorgeous rooms, I’m not good at executing gorgeous design myself.  I think I have good taste (Is that weird to say?)…but I can’t pull it all together.  I know what I like, but I don’t know how to combine everything (furnishings, textiles, etc.) in one room and make it WOW.  And paying an interior designer isn’t an option right now…I guess not, truthfully I’ve never really looked into b/c I just assume it’s too expensive.  Luckily, my sister in law IS an amazing interior designer (yes, the same one that bakes those gorgeous cakes)…so I try and get her help as much as possible:-)

Anyways, even though I wrote recently about feeling in limbo in this house…I’ve decided I want my next big project to be our dining room.  While I probably won’t invest in anything too expensive for window treatments yet…I know I can get the table and chairs and know that those pieces can transfer to our next home.

I think I’ve finally got my dad on board with building our table this fall/winter (he likes to do those things in his shop when he can have a fire and not sweat to death)…

This is my table inspiration:

I fell in LOVE with these chairs the other day…they come in a beautiful pale aqua and a natural color.  These would be a bit more of a splurge, but do-able.  I have two wing back chairs that I could use as hostess chairs or eventually get parsons/upholstered chairs for the ends.  The idea is to have 6 wooden chairs for the sides and two nicer/upholstered chairs at the ends…it’s just not realistic for me to have all upholstered…as JUST last night Collins got RED pen on my upholstered ottoman!!  Thank goodness for outdoor fabric!

But, buying unfinished is also an option…and maybe painting a really pale gray?

I love the x back that so many chairs have these days, but I have x back in my kitchen at the breakfast table, so I don’t want to repeat that…plus I’d like something a TAD more formal for the dining room….

I just need someone to pull all of this together for me and pick something out that is going to be gorgeous!!

  1. It's probably a good thing we don't live in the same town. We would get in trouble!

My Pinterest inspired master bedroom makeover part one.

The BEFORE pictures. I've been itching to re-do my master bedroom for quite some time now. I am one of those people that likes to re decorate quite often...unfortunately for my bank account. Mikey's mom bought him a full queen sized bedroom suite when he graduated college, which was wonderful. It is very nice furniture and has served us well. But, I am SOOO sick of all the dark matchy-matchy look it brings. I will use this furniture again in a guest bedroom one day...but for now, it's time to retire it from my master. All of my bedding and rug I had previously...I've now had this zebra/brown/green theme for almost 4 years...so over it! Fortunately for us...my brother and SIL got a new bed...so what do we get?? Their old KING size bed!! Woohoo. I do NOT like for people to touch me when I sleep, I need my space...I've been wanting a king for so long. Even though our room isn't the biggest the king is working out okay...we aren't going to be in this h

2019 family Village Creek trip

Our 2019 summer family vacation was everything I could have asked for, and more!  This year, my parents and nephew joined us for the week so we had extra fun!  (and extra chaos of course, too!)  We did ALL the things, but yet also did ALL the relaxing.  We arrived on G and T's actual, bday so we started our trip with a special birthday lunch in downtown Beaufort with just the boys since Collins rode down with my mom.  We also finally experienced the drive in movie that night for Toy Story 4 and it was AWESOME!  We only had one day of cloudy weather so that was awesome!  We ventured to Bohicket Marina, Harbor Town, Harbor Island, Edisto Island, Botany Bay, our favorite sandbar AND downtown Beaufort by boat, we had a ball!   My dad got some AMAZING fireworks and we had a little show for the culdesac, so much fun!!  Mikey and I even got to sneak out one night for a date night, headed to our fav, Sal

Takeover Tuesday

Surprise Caro, guess who hacked into your blog! I know what you are saying to yourself...I can’t believe it’s taken this long for me to mess with you on here. For those of you who haven’t figured it out yet, this obviously is not your sweet Caroline, this is her wonderful, sarcastic, fun loving, baby daddy (or is it babies’ daddy now?), also known as her husband. (Caro at her finest, throwing me a great 25th birthday celebration) Where do I begin…. I guess we can talk about how this marital bliss came to be before we talk about the author of this blog and how amazing she. Caroline has been the love of my life for as long as I can remember, we were actually first grade boyfriend and girlfriend if you can believe it. After first grade, there was the great divide, as both of us went to different schools the following year. Finally, after 10 agonizing, lonely years we were reunited at a house party our senior year in high school. I, naturally, had always kept an eye on her throughou
