A day in the life of the Glenn fam

I always enjoy reading other people’s posts like this…so I thought I’d pen what ours look like as well.

My disclosures😊 I work full time, this is what the majority of our days look like, but we are a family that likes to GO.  So, some days…this can vary greatly.  Some afternoons after work…we run errands and go out to eat, sometimes we go out in the boat, or we have a fun event to attend…you get the picture.

6 am: WAKE (ahem…this is a new thing, as in, it’s only happened a handful of times…I’m not even going to go there right now)  Most of the time, you can find me in bed until at least 7…I am NOT a morning person!

6:10-7: WORK OUT (why I’m not going there….a whole other post for another day)

7:00-8 ish: shower/get kids up/ eat breakfast/play with the kids

*Now that Collins just started back to preschool, Mikey will take her in the mornings and I’ll take the boys….I usually take all three kids if they are all going to Weezie’s (our caregiver).  Mornings are a mad house; duh…as I am sure they are for most people who have places to be at certain times.  But, I do get moments of hugs/laughs and time spent with the kids.

Preschool schedule: Collins goes M-Th from 7:45 ish ( whenever Mikey drops her off) until 12.  Our amazing caregiver’s husband is retired and he picks her up, how awesome is that!?  It allows her to have the best of both worlds…in home care AND preschool.  We LOVE it.

I will typically drop the boys off anytime between 8 and 9, depending on my schedule for the day….but it’s generally closer to 8:30/8:45, my office is five minutes away.

WORK

I travel for work sometimes, but it’s always just day travel…I’d say I’m out of the office 4-6 times a month on average.

LUNCH

I try and scoot over and see the kids at lunch, and this is the BEST part of my work day…naturally.  Sometimes I’m only there for 10 minutes, but I love stopping by.  A lot of times I can hang out for a good bit…it all just depends on my work day.  I try and go at least 3 times a week…sometimes its 5 days a week and sometimes 1…but I love that I can do this.

WORK

5:00PM: OUT of the office and heading to pick up the kids!  (obviously every once in a while I have to stay later, but I can work from home so if I need to make up time or work more I can do it at night when the kids go to bed).

5:30-8:30: My favorite, craziest time of day!

We try and do an activity every day, whether that’s taking a walk/bike ride/wagon ridge, a golf cart ride, going to the playground, or just playing outside in our yard.

5:30-6:30:  I try and set aside a solid hour for play time/hang out with the kids.  NO PHONES!  Some days we just stay in the playroom…and make a disaster ;-)

6:30-7:30: this is generally when cooking and eating dinner occur.  Mikey is generally the cook (a) because he’s better at it than me b) because I’d rather keep playing with the kids) We eat together as a family every night.

7:30-8:30: depending on what we’ve done earlier in the night, this is when we may take a golf cart ride or play outside again.  Baths start at 8 and bed time is at 8:30

8:30-9/9:30: Mikey and I make a mad dash to clean up the kitchen/do laundry/any random house chores that need to happen because by 10 I am OUT.  Especially now that I’m trying to wake up at 6 to work out;-)  I need my sleep!    9:15/9:30-10 is our couple time…it’s not much but it’s important.

So, there’s that.

2019 family Village Creek trip

Our 2019 summer family vacation was everything I could have asked for, and more!  This year, my parents and nephew joined us for the week so we had extra fun!  (and extra chaos of course, too!)  We did ALL the things, but yet also did ALL the relaxing.  We arrived on G and T's actual, bday so we started our trip with a special birthday lunch in downtown Beaufort with just the boys since Collins rode down with my mom.  We also finally experienced the drive in movie that night for Toy Story 4 and it was AWESOME!  We only had one day of cloudy weather so that was awesome!  We ventured to Bohicket Marina, Harbor Town, Harbor Island, Edisto Island, Botany Bay, our favorite sandbar AND downtown Beaufort by boat, we had a ball!   My dad got some AMAZING fireworks and we had a little show for the culdesac, so much fun!!  Mikey and I even got to sneak out one night for a date night, headed to our fav, Sal

These are the days.

Goodness gracious, I LOVE summer.  I talk it to death every year, but it is especially important to me during this season of life where the school year brings homework/schedules/strict bed times/extra curricular craziness- I appreciate the LAZY days of summer EVEN MORE. I've tried to be intentional about taking a half day here and there to soak up TIME with my babies.  Because Lord knows, they aren't babies for long.  (Yes, I'm referring to my 7 and 5 year olds as babies- #cantstopwontstop ) When we returned from our anniversary trip, we got back early on a Tuesday and used the rest of the day to spend quality family time together.  We took the kids to a local water park, this was all of our first time visiting- and we had a ball!   That same week, my girl and I dressed up and attended her very first company banquet for dance, too much fun!  Lake days with friends are sooooo good for me- we've so enjoyed many of them this summer

My Pinterest inspired master bedroom makeover part one.

The BEFORE pictures. I've been itching to re-do my master bedroom for quite some time now. I am one of those people that likes to re decorate quite often...unfortunately for my bank account. Mikey's mom bought him a full queen sized bedroom suite when he graduated college, which was wonderful. It is very nice furniture and has served us well. But, I am SOOO sick of all the dark matchy-matchy look it brings. I will use this furniture again in a guest bedroom one day...but for now, it's time to retire it from my master. All of my bedding and rug I had previously...I've now had this zebra/brown/green theme for almost 4 years...so over it! Fortunately for us...my brother and SIL got a new bed...so what do we get?? Their old KING size bed!! Woohoo. I do NOT like for people to touch me when I sleep, I need my space...I've been wanting a king for so long. Even though our room isn't the biggest the king is working out okay...we aren't going to be in this h
