The Friday five: twins edition

I’ve been wanting to document the things that make life a taaaaad bit easier with twins.  (but, let’s be honest…logistically, life is a CIRCUS with a 2 year old and twin newborns! We make a scene everywhere we go;-)   )

So…in case anyone reads this that’s expecting twins….  (KATE?!?)  Here are FIVE facts/products/not necessary’s of having twins….

1.       I would NOT have been able to tandem breastfeed like I have without the MY BREAST FRIEND twin nursing pillow.  Now granted, I didn’t try any other brands (because I was given this one) so I’m sure any BIG, made for TWO babies nursing pillow would work…but it’s definitely not possible to tandem nurse on one boppy or one single my breast friend.  Well…anything’s possible I guess…one day in the front seat of my car I tandem nursed both boys without ANY pillow or support…it was interesting to say the least!

2.       Baby Jogger City Select stroller.  This thing is the BOMB.  I like it because it has a big enough basket underneath to throw a few groceries/items in if I am just doing a quick buy at the grocery store or Target.  It’s pretty easy to use…although you do have to unattach the infant adapters every time you close it up….it’s not that bad, and really…there aren’t that many TWIN double strollers on the market.  Lots of double strollers but not many that will hold TWO infant car seats.  I love the “stadium style” seating and the fact that it isn’t so super wide.  Makes navigating in tight spaces much easier than say, the double BOB.  If I was a serious runner, I’d get the double BOB too…but I’m notJ  You can lightly jog with this stroller even though it isn’t a true running stroller.

3.       The whole sleeping issue was a big thing for me…I knew I didn’t want them sleeping in their rooms right away so I wondered where to put them.  Collins slept in the bassinet portion of our pack and play for the first four weeks…but obviously that wouldn’t work for two babies.  And I didn’t want TWO pack and plays in our room…so my friends to the rescue!!  We borrowed two of the Fisher Price rock and play sleepers and they have been perfect.  They are small enough that they don’t take up too much space in our room, and they fold up easily for travel and when I want to put them away.  I love that they are inclined because little Grahambo (his nickname per his big sis) is quite the spitter, as in spits up after EVERY SINGLE FEEDING.  They are also quite cozy for the babies…and….drumroll……..they are still sleeping there, beside my bed.  OOPS.  Yes, they will be four months old on the 1st.  HOWEVER, for a while…I used the excuse that I couldn’t nurse them in their room.  Which is a true story…the nursing pillow doesn’t fit comfortably in my glider and I need help getting them situated, so it just made more sense for them to stay in our room.  Well, now that they are mostly sleeping thru the night (about 10-7) I still haven’t moved them……..i will, one day… ;-)  I’m TERRIFIED of SIDS and little Graham usually needs his paci around 5am-7am (he always wakes up and needs to be soothed back to sleep around this time…they don’t go to sleep at night with pacis in…but I give it to G to put him back to sleep around this time.  At some point I’m just going to have to let him cry it out…) Anyways, these have been fabulous for our needs.

4.        We have two bouncy seats and one swing, which has been perfect.  In all honesty, there’s a lot of times four bouncy seats would make sense (since our bedroom is upstairs and we have a big bonus room upstairs)…especially when we first moved in and I was unpacking/organizing upstairs there have been plenty of times where I’ve carted the bouncy seats up and down stairs.  Which, obviously…isn’t that big of a deal, but 4 would be nice too.  (not that I would buy four…just borrow from friends)  I usually just kind of rotate them around between the seats and the swing.  They both like both items so that helps.

5.       Two boppys are very nice to have as well for bottle feeding.  If anyone ever gives them a bottle it’s nice to do it at the same time so you aren’t spending 40 minutes giving bottles and it’s possible to do that with two boppys.  I just prop them in there and go.

 Okay, that's enough for today!

Happy weekend!

Xoxo

2019 family Village Creek trip

Our 2019 summer family vacation was everything I could have asked for, and more!  This year, my parents and nephew joined us for the week so we had extra fun!  (and extra chaos of course, too!)  We did ALL the things, but yet also did ALL the relaxing.  We arrived on G and T's actual, bday so we started our trip with a special birthday lunch in downtown Beaufort with just the boys since Collins rode down with my mom.  We also finally experienced the drive in movie that night for Toy Story 4 and it was AWESOME!  We only had one day of cloudy weather so that was awesome!  We ventured to Bohicket Marina, Harbor Town, Harbor Island, Edisto Island, Botany Bay, our favorite sandbar AND downtown Beaufort by boat, we had a ball!   My dad got some AMAZING fireworks and we had a little show for the culdesac, so much fun!!  Mikey and I even got to sneak out one night for a date night, headed to our fav, Sal

My Pinterest inspired master bedroom makeover part one.

The BEFORE pictures. I've been itching to re-do my master bedroom for quite some time now. I am one of those people that likes to re decorate quite often...unfortunately for my bank account. Mikey's mom bought him a full queen sized bedroom suite when he graduated college, which was wonderful. It is very nice furniture and has served us well. But, I am SOOO sick of all the dark matchy-matchy look it brings. I will use this furniture again in a guest bedroom one day...but for now, it's time to retire it from my master. All of my bedding and rug I had previously...I've now had this zebra/brown/green theme for almost 4 years...so over it! Fortunately for us...my brother and SIL got a new bed...so what do we get?? Their old KING size bed!! Woohoo. I do NOT like for people to touch me when I sleep, I need my space...I've been wanting a king for so long. Even though our room isn't the biggest the king is working out okay...we aren't going to be in this h

These are the days.

Goodness gracious, I LOVE summer.  I talk it to death every year, but it is especially important to me during this season of life where the school year brings homework/schedules/strict bed times/extra curricular craziness- I appreciate the LAZY days of summer EVEN MORE. I've tried to be intentional about taking a half day here and there to soak up TIME with my babies.  Because Lord knows, they aren't babies for long.  (Yes, I'm referring to my 7 and 5 year olds as babies- #cantstopwontstop ) When we returned from our anniversary trip, we got back early on a Tuesday and used the rest of the day to spend quality family time together.  We took the kids to a local water park, this was all of our first time visiting- and we had a ball!   That same week, my girl and I dressed up and attended her very first company banquet for dance, too much fun!  Lake days with friends are sooooo good for me- we've so enjoyed many of them this summer
