The Friday Five.

Linking up with the girls again today. Enjoy:-)

1.       SHOES. WHY is it so expensive to be a girl?? Geez.  It’s like you have to have brown/neutral and black shoes for work and fun.  You need booties, wedges, flats, and boots….lordy!  I’ve got the work shoes covered, because unfortunately I wear those a lot more than play shoes…but my play shoes were lacking.  I wore my black suede wedges so much that they wore a hole thru them…damn it.  Anyways, I found one pair at Belk last night to help.  Love these.  The color is “oak” and they look pretty brown in this picture…but in person they look more grayish/taupe.  So much that I would wear them with black and brown.  So that’s a win.  Now I just need to find some true black booties/wedges that aren’t so “boot” like…make sense? Ha!

2.       I love Christmas.  Love it.  Like most people do.  However, I do NOT LOVE people celebrating Christmas before Thanksgiving.  To me, that’s just not how it is done.  I like my house decorated in fall/Thanksgiving thru ….Thanksgiving.  Each to their own…but for me personally, it really annoys me to see Christmas décor before Turkey day.  It just ain’t right, y’all.  Thanksgiving is late this year….so that means “Christmas season” will be even shorter for me, but that’s OKAY.  Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday that deserves some attention.  I may be hosting a
Thanksgiving dinner this year and there is NO WAY in hell I would want a Christmas tree up during that, it just doesn’t feel right to me.  Anyways, moving on….

3.       If y’all really want to know what a nerd I am …please let me share that my mom, Collins and I went to a cheerleading competition Wednesday night.  My high school was competing in what I thought was state qualifiers and it was near us…so we went! The competition was actually a region championship, which we won…I will always LOVE to watch cheerleading.  LOVE IT.  No matter how old I get.  I’m making my girlfriends go with me to state in two weekends….CHAPIN (my high school) is AMAZING…like won the state championship 11 out of the past 14 years or something crazy like that.  And it all started with USJ   I know…cheerleader for life over here.  And yes, secretly…I’ll probably be a bit disappointed if Collins doesn’t want to cheer when she gets older…I’ll get over it, but I just LOVE to watch it.

4.       I’m itching to do some more stuff around the house.  At this point, it is going to have to wait until after Christmas, but I have the itch.  I’ve said it before, but it comes and goes with me.  I hung a gallery wall upstairs the other night and re-arranged Collins’ room, so that helped.  But I’m itching to order the rest of the fabric to make curtain panels for the den and breakfast room and find an ottoman to use for the coffee table.  I prefer a round one but I am having a hard time finding one I love, or even one I can recover myself.

5.       We have another weekend of NO PLANS.  What is going on?  Wedding showers/parties, weddings, and the like have slowed down SO much; guess that’s what happens when you turn THIRTY.  But, really…it’s crazy.    We’ll probably hang with friends one night this weekend, but otherwise…have nothing on the agenda.  I guess it’s kind of nice b/c next weekend is PACKED.  But, y’all know I love to be busy!

I've been able to spend lots of lunches with my sweet girl lately. Makes me so happy.

My Pinterest inspired master bedroom makeover part one.

The BEFORE pictures. I've been itching to re-do my master bedroom for quite some time now. I am one of those people that likes to re decorate quite often...unfortunately for my bank account. Mikey's mom bought him a full queen sized bedroom suite when he graduated college, which was wonderful. It is very nice furniture and has served us well. But, I am SOOO sick of all the dark matchy-matchy look it brings. I will use this furniture again in a guest bedroom one day...but for now, it's time to retire it from my master. All of my bedding and rug I had previously...I've now had this zebra/brown/green theme for almost 4 years...so over it! Fortunately for us...my brother and SIL got a new bed...so what do we get?? Their old KING size bed!! Woohoo. I do NOT like for people to touch me when I sleep, I need my space...I've been wanting a king for so long. Even though our room isn't the biggest the king is working out okay...we aren't going to be in this h

2019 family Village Creek trip

Our 2019 summer family vacation was everything I could have asked for, and more!  This year, my parents and nephew joined us for the week so we had extra fun!  (and extra chaos of course, too!)  We did ALL the things, but yet also did ALL the relaxing.  We arrived on G and T's actual, bday so we started our trip with a special birthday lunch in downtown Beaufort with just the boys since Collins rode down with my mom.  We also finally experienced the drive in movie that night for Toy Story 4 and it was AWESOME!  We only had one day of cloudy weather so that was awesome!  We ventured to Bohicket Marina, Harbor Town, Harbor Island, Edisto Island, Botany Bay, our favorite sandbar AND downtown Beaufort by boat, we had a ball!   My dad got some AMAZING fireworks and we had a little show for the culdesac, so much fun!!  Mikey and I even got to sneak out one night for a date night, headed to our fav, Sal

Takeover Tuesday

Surprise Caro, guess who hacked into your blog! I know what you are saying to yourself...I can’t believe it’s taken this long for me to mess with you on here. For those of you who haven’t figured it out yet, this obviously is not your sweet Caroline, this is her wonderful, sarcastic, fun loving, baby daddy (or is it babies’ daddy now?), also known as her husband. (Caro at her finest, throwing me a great 25th birthday celebration) Where do I begin…. I guess we can talk about how this marital bliss came to be before we talk about the author of this blog and how amazing she. Caroline has been the love of my life for as long as I can remember, we were actually first grade boyfriend and girlfriend if you can believe it. After first grade, there was the great divide, as both of us went to different schools the following year. Finally, after 10 agonizing, lonely years we were reunited at a house party our senior year in high school. I, naturally, had always kept an eye on her throughou
