{our weekend: birthday edition}

So………..you know how I thought Mikey and I were going to Beaufort ALONE this past weekend?  Well, joke was on me.  He had planned a SURPRISE birthday weekend down there with some of my best friends and it could NOT have been more perfect.  I was CLUELESS.  *Mikey and I aren’t really an “alone” type of couple…I mean yes, here and there it is nice and we enjoy plenty of date nights…and it would have been different if we were going to new city to explore…but for US…it was way more fun to be surrounded by our best friends on a fun weekend in Beaufort…now if he would have planned a romantic getaway somewhere in the mountains/new city that would be different*  Anyways, I digress….we did get a little alone time Friday night which was the perfect set up for us.  We arrived in Beaufort around 7 and headed straight to Saltus for drinks and dinner.  We’ve been to Saltus a few times for drinks, but had never eaten there…so we were excited.  We sat up at the bar for a bit waiting on an outdoor table… which was fun…but sitting outside overlooking the water was absolute PERFECTION.  There was a huge fire pit going behind us and it was heavenly.  The food was OUT of this world and our date night was bliss.  We headed to the house around 9…and that’s when the action began.
At dinner.  WHY are so many of my iphone pics blurry??  :(

I literally walked into a PITCH black house that I thought was supposed to be EMPTY…and after fumbling for a lamp (that was broken) I started to walk to turn the alarm off and about half way there, realized it wasn’t even on.  All within a span of about 2 seconds of walking towards alarm, someone else turned a light on and 12 of my best friends yelled SURPRISE.  I about died.  Seriously.  I crouched down on the floor I was so scared…it was hilarious.  After I regained my composure I just sat there in awe.  It was the BEST surprise ever.  SO SO  much fun.  Mikey was COOL as a cucumber the whole time…I would have NEVER been able to do that.  AND!  NONE of my friends gave away the secret…pretty amazing.
Hiding....

I fell straight to the ground...

The guys.

The girls.

We partied pretty hard both nights…it’s fun every once in a while to pretend we are still youngJ  The boys played golf all day Saturday and us girls did absolutely NOTHING.  We were going to try and go to the beach or at the very least go sit by the pool…but we were lazy and it was great.  Our game (the cardiac cocks kept us hooked) came on at 12, so it was right in the middle of the day…and once that was over at almost 4…a new game came on and we just stayed right where we were.  Pajamas, blankets, girl talk, football = perfect day.  It really was a perfect weekend.  Sometimes it’s nice to go down there with NO agenda and NO plans and just enjoy “being.”
 Seriously, my husband and friends are the BEST.  Dessert number two of the birthday week festivities...

We all woke up early Sunday to hit the road home…most of us had babies we were READY to see!  On that note, I am forever grateful to have wonderful parents and in laws that love to keep our child while we are away.  Mikey’s sister’s family was up from Florida visiting, so Collins got to hang out with her cousins on that side of the family that she doesn’t get to see as much.  They took her to the Okra Strut and Parade on Saturday (a hometown tradition) and enjoyed time at the lake at Granddadder and Khaki’s (Mikey’s dad’s house) Friday, Saturday and Sunday!!  We were home by 2 on Sunday and spent the rest of the afternoon celebrating my birthday and my brother in law’s girlfriend’s birthday with Mikey’s family…it was a nice afternoon to veg out and enjoy each other’s company.  A beautiful FALL day!  (Told y’all I was finally getting in the spirit!)

 So thankful for such wonderful memories.

xoxo

My Pinterest inspired master bedroom makeover part one.

The BEFORE pictures. I've been itching to re-do my master bedroom for quite some time now. I am one of those people that likes to re decorate quite often...unfortunately for my bank account. Mikey's mom bought him a full queen sized bedroom suite when he graduated college, which was wonderful. It is very nice furniture and has served us well. But, I am SOOO sick of all the dark matchy-matchy look it brings. I will use this furniture again in a guest bedroom one day...but for now, it's time to retire it from my master. All of my bedding and rug I had previously...I've now had this zebra/brown/green theme for almost 4 years...so over it! Fortunately for us...my brother and SIL got a new bed...so what do we get?? Their old KING size bed!! Woohoo. I do NOT like for people to touch me when I sleep, I need my space...I've been wanting a king for so long. Even though our room isn't the biggest the king is working out okay...we aren't going to be in this h

2019 family Village Creek trip

Our 2019 summer family vacation was everything I could have asked for, and more!  This year, my parents and nephew joined us for the week so we had extra fun!  (and extra chaos of course, too!)  We did ALL the things, but yet also did ALL the relaxing.  We arrived on G and T's actual, bday so we started our trip with a special birthday lunch in downtown Beaufort with just the boys since Collins rode down with my mom.  We also finally experienced the drive in movie that night for Toy Story 4 and it was AWESOME!  We only had one day of cloudy weather so that was awesome!  We ventured to Bohicket Marina, Harbor Town, Harbor Island, Edisto Island, Botany Bay, our favorite sandbar AND downtown Beaufort by boat, we had a ball!   My dad got some AMAZING fireworks and we had a little show for the culdesac, so much fun!!  Mikey and I even got to sneak out one night for a date night, headed to our fav, Sal

Takeover Tuesday

Surprise Caro, guess who hacked into your blog! I know what you are saying to yourself...I can’t believe it’s taken this long for me to mess with you on here. For those of you who haven’t figured it out yet, this obviously is not your sweet Caroline, this is her wonderful, sarcastic, fun loving, baby daddy (or is it babies’ daddy now?), also known as her husband. (Caro at her finest, throwing me a great 25th birthday celebration) Where do I begin…. I guess we can talk about how this marital bliss came to be before we talk about the author of this blog and how amazing she. Caroline has been the love of my life for as long as I can remember, we were actually first grade boyfriend and girlfriend if you can believe it. After first grade, there was the great divide, as both of us went to different schools the following year. Finally, after 10 agonizing, lonely years we were reunited at a house party our senior year in high school. I, naturally, had always kept an eye on her throughou
