Christmas Eve is steak and potatoes to me...well, and obviously a whole LOT more, but you get my drift. We have always celebrated Christmas with my mom's family on Christmas Eve. Unfortunately, this meant that we have never really been able to do the Christmas Eve service at church, we've snuck them in a few years, but for the most part there's just not enough time in the day.
Growing up, we always gathered at my grandparent's house...my granddaddy did the cooking of the steaks and we had Larry's cheese potatoes, those things were the BOMB. Over the years, as our families have grown, we now switch off having it at either my parent's house or my Uncle and Aunt's house. Well, guess what? It was my mom's turn to host this year and it just so happened that they were moving into their brand new house the week before and she wasn't ready to host...so guess who did?? Yep, that's right...me! Ha! I can't really complain though because my mom helped me with everything and we didn't really have any cooking to do.
My immediate family has started gathering a few hours before everyone else gets there to open our presents, etc. And unfortunately, due to being a hostess AND little C coming down with the flu...these were the only pictures I got of the whole night. This makes me incredibly sad because I don't know how many more Christmases we will have with my grandfather and I want to capture every moment possible. Dang it. This year was exceptionally fun...everyone was in attendance for once (it seems there is always someone missing and my cousin Greg has to switch off visiting his wife's family in DC every other year.) The kids played, the adultsdrank enjoyed each others company, we ate way too much...we have now gone from larry's cheese potatoes to a potato casserole, I could seriously probably eat a whole one by myself. It was a wonderful evening...we have gone to doing a white elephant gift exchange between the adults and it is too fun. We really get into it. I love it because my grandfather enjoys sitting back and watching his whole family so much.
Anyways, enough rambling....
a few pics I got of my immediate family before everyone got there.
BEST parents in the world.
Grady baby and his mama.
Family pic...sans bow:-( How am I going to get her to keep that thing in?
I think we took 100 of these and there isn't ONE where everyone is looking AND smiling...oh well. Lolly and Granddaddy and their greatest joys in life.
C and her daddy opening presents.
Fascination.
My dad always makes us take a pic with a gift. NERD BOMBER alert. Poor little C, you can tell she doesn't feel good.
xoxo.
