Mikey and I were in for quite a treat for our first Halloween in the 'burbs. We had heard from several people how crazy our neighborhood gets on Halloween night...so much so that when my Uncle (who lives nearby) heard we were moving there he asked if we bought stock in candy! I've already mentioned how much the hood got into decorating... but we were still anxious to see the Halloween trick or treating excitement first hand. I was out of candy by 8:15. MAJOR FAIL. womp womp. I had TONS, or so I thought. Several HUGE bags of the good stuff and my SIL brought over all of their leftover candy from her party. Of course, we did do the whole "please just take two" and left the candy outside...but who wanted to sit at the house all night? Not I! It was crazy chaos, but we loved it. By the time we were winding down with the little ones in tow...the place was really getting packed with the bigger kids. All the parents were out riding around on their golf carts and kids were running everywhere. It was so much fun.
We invited my brother and SIL over with their kiddos so we would have some company, so of course my parents came to enjoy the festivities with us...and they brought pizza for later:-) My Uncle and his family live about a mile down the road...and they ended up walking over with their little girls, so we had quite a crew!
Next year, I'm going to try and get in the spirit a tad more with my house decorations AND start buying candy in September. GEEZ. (Of course I do think the candy went much faster between 7:45 and 8:15 once all the "unchaperoned" older kids were out and about and didn't pay any attention to my sign!!! It's cool though, I wouldn't have either at that age!)
My Uncle's two girls.
Collins and Grady in on the picture action.
Party of three.
Chillin'
Neighbors!
Just 12 days out from this and it already feels like a LIFTIME ago....how does that happen?
xoxo.
