The WINDY city, day one.

I am finally rested after our weekend getaway to Chicago...what a fun time in the very windy city. I probably heard three different times (via tours) that Chicago got it's name "the windy city" from politicians who talk too much or something like that...I don't buy it, sorry. Chicago got it's name "the windy city" because, duh...that shit is windy. Friday, the weather was perfect....73 degrees and sunny. We were even a little hot on Friday walking around because we had prepared for a little cooler temp. However, Saturday and Sunday it was very chilly for us Southerners.

Friday was by far the best day....we had a a blast. We arrived around lunch, checked in at our fab hotel and then started walking. We had lunch, walked Michigan Avenue, went to the bean and sat by the river till our tour started. We took an hour and a half architectural boat tour, which was quite interesting. I would say it could have been oh about 30 minutes shorter...we really didn't need to know the name of every architect who was responsible for designing every building on the river....I guess this is important to some people, but it didn't mean jack crap to me that Smith, Williams, and Jones designed this building in 1932. Sheesh. Move on with the important stuff like who lives/occupies it now and how much it costs, etc. All in all though, the tour was really cool, I had no idea the Chicago River was such a prominent part of their downtown....yeah, I was a first timer to the city.

We immediately headed to Happy Hour after the tour, we met our wonderful hosts for the weekend at The Bull and Bear. Otherwise known as the most expensive draft beer around. Seriously. This bar was so fun and packed with local Chicagoans (we arrived right at 5:30 on a Friday!) but goodness gracious...the amount we paid for DRAFT beer was downright ludicrous. The cool thing about this place was it registered how much beer you drank, there were two taps at each table...the war was on: it was bud light vs. stella at our table. Bud Light dominated, we have boring beer taste.

Next we got ready to head to Gino's East for Pizza, we chose this instead of Giordano's like we originally planned because of location. Not gonna lie...not positive on my feelings on "deep dish." It was good, of course....but it is just so much heavier than pizza I am used to. Almost too heavy for my liking. Regardless, it was a cool experience and i am glad we did it. After Gino's, it was time for us to get in line at The Second City for "The Absolute Best Friggin Time of your Life." S.I.M.P.L.Y. A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. Seriously, this was one of the funniest shows i have ever seen in my entire life, by far my favorite thing we did in the windy city. It was a full two hours, so we were there till 1 am...but so totally worth it. Drinks weren't even that outrageous like you would think. It was definitely pretty political and it was definitely obvious how they felt about Republicans vs. the MAN HIMSELF, OBAMA...but I still laughed my ass off throughout. It's okay to poke fun every once in a while i guess.

All in all Friday was a wonderful day....now on to the BEST part, the picture recap. Duh.

Photo op on the river.

My Pinterest inspired master bedroom makeover part one.

The BEFORE pictures. I've been itching to re-do my master bedroom for quite some time now. I am one of those people that likes to re decorate quite often...unfortunately for my bank account. Mikey's mom bought him a full queen sized bedroom suite when he graduated college, which was wonderful. It is very nice furniture and has served us well. But, I am SOOO sick of all the dark matchy-matchy look it brings. I will use this furniture again in a guest bedroom one day...but for now, it's time to retire it from my master. All of my bedding and rug I had previously...I've now had this zebra/brown/green theme for almost 4 years...so over it! Fortunately for us...my brother and SIL got a new bed...so what do we get?? Their old KING size bed!! Woohoo. I do NOT like for people to touch me when I sleep, I need my space...I've been wanting a king for so long. Even though our room isn't the biggest the king is working out okay...we aren't going to be in this h...

2019 family Village Creek trip

Our 2019 summer family vacation was everything I could have asked for, and more!  This year, my parents and nephew joined us for the week so we had extra fun!  (and extra chaos of course, too!)  We did ALL the things, but yet also did ALL the relaxing.  We arrived on G and T's actual, bday so we started our trip with a special birthday lunch in downtown Beaufort with just the boys since Collins rode down with my mom.  We also finally experienced the drive in movie that night for Toy Story 4 and it was AWESOME!  We only had one day of cloudy weather so that was awesome!  We ventured to Bohicket Marina, Harbor Town, Harbor Island, Edisto Island, Botany Bay, our favorite sandbar AND downtown Beaufort by boat, we had a ball!   My dad got some AMAZING fireworks and we had a little show for the culdesac, so much fun!!  Mikey and I even got to sneak out one n...

Takeover Tuesday

Surprise Caro, guess who hacked into your blog! I know what you are saying to yourself...I can’t believe it’s taken this long for me to mess with you on here. For those of you who haven’t figured it out yet, this obviously is not your sweet Caroline, this is her wonderful, sarcastic, fun loving, baby daddy (or is it babies’ daddy now?), also known as her husband. (Caro at her finest, throwing me a great 25th birthday celebration) Where do I begin…. I guess we can talk about how this marital bliss came to be before we talk about the author of this blog and how amazing she. Caroline has been the love of my life for as long as I can remember, we were actually first grade boyfriend and girlfriend if you can believe it. After first grade, there was the great divide, as both of us went to different schools the following year. Finally, after 10 agonizing, lonely years we were reunited at a house party our senior year in high school. I, naturally, had always kept an eye on her throughou...
