We are the champions.....

I can't even begin to describe the emotions that are going around Gamecock nation right now, I am SO proud to be an alum and even prouder of our amazing baseball team and amazing coach! The Gamecocks winning the National Championship in the LAST game to be played in Rosenblatt stadium, wow...we will definitely be remembered forever. We went out last night to "Five Points" which is the college age hang out/bar area. It was CAAARAAAAZY! To say people were excited would be an understatement. I know a lot of other big schools out there have won lots of championships, but this is only our SECOND national championship. SECOND? I mean I know our lousy record in football, but really only two national championships for a school that is over 200 years old and is the flagship university for a whole state. Let's just say the "chicken curse" was alive and well for a long time. I couldn't be more happy for it to happen to Coach Ray Tanner, he is without a dou

Celebrations!

This past weekend was pure bliss. We watched TONS of AMAZING gamecock baseball, how about them ASS KICKING CHICKENS!!! We hung out with friends Friday night for the game, slept in Saturday, then headed to the lake for a fun filled day with family! Saturday and Sunday were spent either on a float, boat, lounge chair, rocking chair or bed! It was perfect. I got lots of rest, lots of sun, and we spent some good quality time with Mikey's family. Now, this week...that's another story! Because the COCKS pulled thru to beat our arch rival CLEMSON two games in a row, we are now playing for the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!! (Can you tell I'm a little pumped!) However, this means maybe THREE nights in a row of baseball. We will be heading to a friends tonight for round one....who knows for Tuesday night and hopefully we won't even have to play Wednesday because we will have already WON! Thursday we are celebrating a friends birthday, then Friday it is off to the beach for the

Finally Friday!

Excited for the weekend, we actually plan on having a semi relaxing one...not a whole ton going on. Last night, we had a bunch of friends over to watch the COCKS in the College World Series and we WON! It was an awesome, but dramatic win against Oklahoma. Now, we have to pay our nemesis, the Clemson Tigers....urrrrghhh and beat them TWICE in order to go to the finals. I would rather lose to anyone in the world except them, dang it. I am sure they feel the same way as well. On the bright side, this does mean that one team from South Carolina will be in the final game, finally some positive news for our little state! Celebrating! We will hopefully, *fingers crossed* be watching baseball tonight AND tomorrow night, but otherwise, we plan on just hanging out at the lake. Mikey's family is having a get together Saturday at his dad's, so we know we will be floating in the water all day long, gotta stay cool in this crazy heat! I need to work on my tan, sleep in, work out, and

Movies of Summer

I normally love going to the movies in the summer, that seems to be a good time for new ones to come out. I really haven't been hearing about too many good ones lately, maybe I live under a rock? Obvs, there is SATC 2, which NO...I have not seen. I will probably wait for it to come to Netflix. I loved the show and LOVED the first movie, but this just looks dumb to me...too much of a good thing = a BAD thing. I have heard terrible reviews...but I have also heard from a lot of girls that loved it, so I will reserve my opinion for later, just don't want to waste a whopping $10 on a movie night for it. I really hope this "Grown Ups" movie is good, and doesn't end up being a bust. With so many funny people in it, it has good potential.... Now, Get him to the Greek has gotten AWESOME reviews, I freaking can't wait to see this movie. I think Jonah Hill is so funny. Two Words. Russell Crowe, by far my FAVORITE actor of all time. (Gladiator, A beautiful mind...

Throw Back....Monday?

So, last week was insane. I was really busy at work and one of my best friends was getting married so there was lots going on. Hence, not much blogging....so now I am doing my throw back Thursday on a MONDAY, which is also, June 21....aka, the LONGEST day of the year. As if we need Monday to be any longer than it already is!?! I'm exhausted this morning after an action packed weekend full of wedding festivities, birthdays, and fathers day! I just wanna go crawl under the sheets for a bit longer.... sigh. So, last week....last year, we were on our honeymoon~ obviously=) We chose to go to Maroma Beach, which is located in the Riviera Maya portion of Mexico. Neither of us were too particular about where we went, we both just wanted to RELAX and do it somewhere tropical, not too far, and with an all inclusive option. We will save the "sight see" trips for later...I just wanted a beach, a book, my boy, and some booze for a week. We ended up going with the Secrets Maro

best friends on the beach

This past Saturday, one of my oldest and dearest friends, Sarah and I headed to Sullivan's Island to lay out for the day. There really are few things in life better than sitting on the beach with your best friend for hours. No one else was there to interrupt, it was just the two of us and our mouths (they never stopped running!) Sarah is crazy busy getting her PhD in communication science and behavior disorders (i think this is right) and we don't get to see each other that often. She has a million things going on all the time so it is even hard to catch each other on the phone. It was pure bliss to spend so much quality time together, while doing one of our favorite things! I can remember when we were laying out in middle school/high school and would use baby oil...eeekkk. No more of that nonsense! We both lathered up pretty well Saturday. This is just another reason why i love summer so much.....here's to more beach days with those that i love!

weekend of love. charleston style.

What a wonderful weekend we had in Charleston. We got there around 7:30 on Friday night and strolled around a bit acting like tourists, I say "acting" because even though we are "technically" tourists now because we don't live there; Mikey went to college there and I have lived there as well. When you visit somewhere so often, you forget to appreciate all of the wonderful sights and attractions the city has to offer. We strolled around the battery and the waterfront park area, it was close to sunset and it was GORGEOUS. My handsome hubby of ONE year=) Can't you tell he loves taking solo shots! Ha! We went to Magnolia's for dinner Friday night and it was DELICIOUS. We don't go to fancy restaurants very often, it just isn't our style so much...but this was a very nice treat. (i just can't help when paying the bill thinking about what else that money could go to, ahem...CLOTHES!!) The food and service were amazing, everything was perfe

Riiiiight now.

Super excited to be leaving for Charleston after work, celebrating our ONE year anniversary and also attending a wedding of some friends! Just got a little blonder, always makes me happy. Had a wonderful time last night hanging out with some dear friends, we are so ready for them to move to Columbia! Stuffed from lunch. Only to be going to a very fancy restaurant tonight...better make some room! Just bought another Kristin Hannah book, True Colors...hope it is half as good as Firefly Lane and I will be happy. Also, just got "The Mermaid Chair" to listen to in the car, same author as The Secret Life of Bee's. I LOOOVED the Secret life of bee's....not so sure about the other one yet. Seems to be another book about a love affair, blah...I get sick of reading about that. I wish I could invent a teleport...(spelling?) I don't want to sit in the car for almost two hours on the way to Charleston, I just want to BE there, like pronto. Hoping everyone has a wonderful

Throw Back, our wedding!

*and yes, there are going to be a LOT of pictures* June 13, 2009 was by far the BEST day of my life so far. Not every little detail went as planned (think one tent, five fans, a huge band, and lights with ONE outlet!!!) thank goodness my wonderful daddy and other men in the family knew what to do and worked hard ! We ended up having to rent a generator at the last minute, and it sat out on the site....uggghhhh that was not in my "picture perfect idea" of what everything was supposed to look like. But, what do you do? We had to have all of that stuff...especially those fans! Regardless, the day was perfect for Mikey and me and that is what matters most. My parents sure threw one hell of a party, and that is exactly what we wanted! I don't think I will ever be able to thank my parents enough for our wedding. Looking back, there may have been a few things I would have done differently, but all in all, I was extremely pleased with the way everything turned out and I
