Sweet Savannah.

Mikey and I ventured down to Savannah to celebrate our anniversary this year. We had an absolute blast and fell in love with the city. We've both been to Savannah several times (he on his BACHELOR party on ST. PATTY'S DAY, can you even imagine the shenanigans!?!) and I've been for a bachelorette and a few other times with my family by boat. But, neither of us had ever really truly enjoyed what all the city had to offer. Our previous visits were either quick, or purely aimed at bar hopping. This time we wanted to soak up all of the wonderful history the city provides and obviously, eat till we rolled...at least that's what it felt like! We arrived late Friday night and just relaxed in the hotel, enjoying watching movies and not having anything to do. We spent Saturday morning playing tourist, I absolutely love all things history and Savannah does NOT let you down in that department. Our tour guide was EXTREMELY knowledgeable... we spent several hours just exploring the city and doing as we pleased.

One of the beautiful inns...this is where all the celebs stay!
Drinking some of Paula Deen's sweet tea, y'all! *It was REALLY sweet, I am a SOUTHERNER, and love sweet tea, but oohhhh mercy, it was sweet.

We shopped around Broughton Street all afternoon after a wonderful lunch at Huey's on the River. Broughton has some of the neatest home stores...but by 3 we were HOT and ready to relax with some cocktails. We headed back to the river and started watching baseball and enjoying the beautiful views while sipping some yummy concoctions (that's totally a lie, I drank Mic Ultra...ha! So boring, but beer is MY yummy concoction!!!) It was a lovely afternoon, we were in the shade so it wasn't too hot, we had drinks, baseball and each other:) We really enjoyed having some "us" time.

Dinner reservations were for 8:30 at The Olde Pink House. We got ready, and ventured to another bar first to start watching the GAMECOCKS play! We finished watching the game in the basement bar of the restaurant, this place was huge and absolutely beautiful. I LOVE old southern homes and this one did NOT disappoint. Thankfully, the GAMECOCKS WON just in time for us to go to our table. We were seated in an upstairs room, probably an old bedroom, with just a few other tables. It was very romantic and the BEST MEAL I'VE EVER HAD. Seriously, the food was delish.

On our walk to dinner.
In front of the restaurant.
Hubs:)
See...there I go again with the Mic Ultra ( I promise I had a glass of wine first...my friends always get on me about drinking all beer!)
We slept in Sunday and then enjoyed a wonderful brunch at B. Matthews Eatery. It was really yummy...a cool little restaurant, and then ventured over to Forsyth Park. I wish we had a park this pretty in Columbia, I mean ...the trees! GORG!

And that ends our wonderful little Savannah vacay. It truly was a great weekend and one I won't ever forget. *Oh and we started the tradition on our first anniversary of getting a cookbook each anniversary, this year we got one from Paula Deen's store. Hopefully we can make her proud!

  1. Oh, I do love Savannah! The riverwalk area reminds me so much of old fraternity formal weekends in college -- that was the life. I've also attended a St. Patty's day there and it was UNFORGETTABLE ... way too much fun. I love your cookbook tradition, by the way!

My Pinterest inspired master bedroom makeover part one.

The BEFORE pictures. I've been itching to re-do my master bedroom for quite some time now. I am one of those people that likes to re decorate quite often...unfortunately for my bank account. Mikey's mom bought him a full queen sized bedroom suite when he graduated college, which was wonderful. It is very nice furniture and has served us well. But, I am SOOO sick of all the dark matchy-matchy look it brings. I will use this furniture again in a guest bedroom one day...but for now, it's time to retire it from my master. All of my bedding and rug I had previously...I've now had this zebra/brown/green theme for almost 4 years...so over it! Fortunately for us...my brother and SIL got a new bed...so what do we get?? Their old KING size bed!! Woohoo. I do NOT like for people to touch me when I sleep, I need my space...I've been wanting a king for so long. Even though our room isn't the biggest the king is working out okay...we aren't going to be in this h

2019 family Village Creek trip

Our 2019 summer family vacation was everything I could have asked for, and more!  This year, my parents and nephew joined us for the week so we had extra fun!  (and extra chaos of course, too!)  We did ALL the things, but yet also did ALL the relaxing.  We arrived on G and T's actual, bday so we started our trip with a special birthday lunch in downtown Beaufort with just the boys since Collins rode down with my mom.  We also finally experienced the drive in movie that night for Toy Story 4 and it was AWESOME!  We only had one day of cloudy weather so that was awesome!  We ventured to Bohicket Marina, Harbor Town, Harbor Island, Edisto Island, Botany Bay, our favorite sandbar AND downtown Beaufort by boat, we had a ball!   My dad got some AMAZING fireworks and we had a little show for the culdesac, so much fun!!  Mikey and I even got to sneak out one night for a date night, headed to our fav, Sal

Takeover Tuesday

Surprise Caro, guess who hacked into your blog! I know what you are saying to yourself...I can’t believe it’s taken this long for me to mess with you on here. For those of you who haven’t figured it out yet, this obviously is not your sweet Caroline, this is her wonderful, sarcastic, fun loving, baby daddy (or is it babies’ daddy now?), also known as her husband. (Caro at her finest, throwing me a great 25th birthday celebration) Where do I begin…. I guess we can talk about how this marital bliss came to be before we talk about the author of this blog and how amazing she. Caroline has been the love of my life for as long as I can remember, we were actually first grade boyfriend and girlfriend if you can believe it. After first grade, there was the great divide, as both of us went to different schools the following year. Finally, after 10 agonizing, lonely years we were reunited at a house party our senior year in high school. I, naturally, had always kept an eye on her throughou
