Much to be thankful for: the holiday in pictures

So, I ate...a LOT this Thanksgiving. Seriously, growing up (before me or sibling were married) it seemed like we just ate ONE Thanksgiving meal and that was that. Well, this year...we had THREE. Ridiculous. Three days in a row too...talking about a carb overload. Regardless, it was a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday, and I have a lot to be thankful for. Tuesday night, our festivities started with our second annual "friends" thanksgiving dinner. We *obviously* just started this event last year, and it is already one of my favorite things we do together. You know...normally when a big group of us gets together, it is for a party (especially if the boys are included) or a tailgate or something that involves drinking and socializing. Now, not that this night is that much different in that regard...BUT we each go around (17 of us this year!) and talk about what we are thankful for. It was one of the rare times the boys get sentimental with us, and it is just a really cool t

Day 18: Something you regret

30 Day blog Challenge: Day 18. Regrets? Not something I like to think about much...why dwell on the past you know? I guess I have a few...nothing that would have altered my life in any dramatic fashion by any means...but certainly a few things I wish I would have done. 1. TRAVELED abroad during college. I didn't ever want to study abroad for a whole semester or anything, but I wish I would have taken a few weeks during the summer and just done it. 2. Gotten a little more involved in college. Sure, I was in a sorority and pretty involved in that...but otherwise I didn't branch out nearly as much as I should have. 3. Not trying harder to cheer in college. Cheerleading was my LIFE in high school. Two teams = five to six days a week. I tore my ACL senior year of high school and couldn't compete at our state championship, talk about devastating for a 17 year old. Woah. I was hell bent on cheering at Carolina prior to tearing up my knee...but after, it took me a while to g

My favorite time of year...is ending!

That would be FOOTBALL SEASON, DUH! No, y'all know summer is definitely my absolute favorite time of the year, but football season definitely, without a doubt, is a very close second. Can y'all believe it is almost over? Seriously? I can't, it makes me so sad. I really actually like the cold football games, and we don't have many of those here in SC. BUT, the past few weekends, we did attend some games and one of them was FREEZING. Here's a little recap of some of the games we've been to lately: All the girls at our post game cook out! Girls at USC v. Troy, our LAST home game. Friends forever, hehe. my boo! A few weekends ago, we traveled to Charleston for The Citadel's homecoming weekend. Mikey graduated from the Citadel in 2005, so this was their FIVE year reunion. (It was actually the same for me at Carolina, but homecoming is not really that big of a deal at USC...I guess with such a big school, who knows). Anyways, every class at the Citadel h

Day 17: Somthing you are looking forward to, well now....the SEC CHAMPIONSHIP

and about a million other things this time of year! Seriously though, we JUST got word that my mom and I are going to get my Grandfather's faculty tickets for the BIG game for the LOW price of $80/piece. Considering they are going on e-bay for $400/piece...this seems like a steal! I am sooooo excited and so thankful for my Grandfather! So... 30 Day blog Challenge: Day 17: Something you are looking forward to: 1. Going to ATL for the SEC Championship game. This is our FIRST time going to the SEC championship and I couldn't be more excited. I love ATL, and being there with a ton of other die hard Gamecock fans is truly the best! 2. RIVALRY WEEK: We play CLEMSON, our most hated rival this Saturday. Admittedly, Clemson had beaten us more than we have them...but regardless...it is still an intense rivalry. We won last year and I really hope we bring home the Palmetto State Champion trophy once again! There are about 17 of us heading to Lake Wateree to watch the game at a

Day 16/1 year/where the hell i've been

WOW. I have now been officially blogging for ONE year! Goodness gracious, time FLIES. Fo real. I have mixed feelings about it being November 18 already. Although it is one of my best friends birthdays today, and we have a wonderful night planned of going to see the city Christmas tree get lit, wine tastings, and our favorite restaurant for dinner...I CANNOT BELIEVE IT IS ALREADY FREAKING NOVEMBER 18. Get my drift? I know I talk about this all the time...but seriously. I don't even have kids yet...but I SWEAR time goes so quickly and sometimes I don't like it. In fact, sometimes, it really freaks me out and gives me anxiety. Like my whole life is gonna be gone in the blink of an eye or something. But, that craziness shall be left for another day. I am happy about the holidays approaching in a way, but not quite ready for Christmas music quite yet. It's such a crazy time of year, I feel like I can barely get my breath lately. We have so much going on and have be

Day 15 and a tropical depression?

Sorry folks, work has been keeping me crazy busy lately and we have been pretty busy social bees at night lately which equals NO time to blog. Literally, yesterday...I drove to Georgetown and back for a hearing....SIX hours in the car, had to rush home to shower and get ready for a charity event we were attending last night. Whew, this girl is WORN out. *On a side note, this was my first Charity Wine Tasting and it was super cool. The event was to raise money for Childrens Chance, a wonderful organization that helps families who have children with cancer....they help to pay for anything and everything from their bills, new tires, mortgage payments, hotel rooms, etc. There were over 100 labels to taste and a silent auction. A fun night for a good cause, how much better does it get? So...on to Day 15: Favorite Bible Verse. My favorite Bible verses are pretty much the most popular ones, but I guess there is a reason they are the most popular right? These just speak to me the most..

My online shopping cart.

Gearing up for Gap's Give and Get sale, I started loading goodies into my online shopping cart. I also added a few things from Nordstrom. I swear I would be a LOT richer if my work blocked internet, seriously. A few of the things I have my eye on: Nordstrom: what a cute coat, Tulle. Old Navy: super cute and cheap. Kinsie faux fur via Piperlime LOVE this faux fur from Nordstrom BCBG via Piperlime. Happy Shopping!!

Don't sweat it, I'm BACK with Day 14.

Ha! I just know everyone was so worried where I was...hehe. I was basically out of the office ALL day Friday and yesterday...throw in a crazy weekend in Charleston and that leaves NO time for blogging. So here's to getting back on track! Day 14: A picture you love. Maybe I haven't done this yet, because umm....are you kidding me? The queen of pictures and I am supposed to just choose ONE? I love a LOT of pictures for a variety of reasons, I love pictures of my husband, of me with my husband, of my family, my friends, places i love, beautiful sunsets, etc. I could go on forever. However, when I really think about it, this picture sticks out. I don't know why, but I just LOVE it. I hate the memories it brings back...but I think it is so fitting of our country. I love that the firemen are worried about raising the flag in the midst of all the bad around them. There is just something about this picture that gave me hope at that horrible time for our country. Hope

Weekend(s) Recap and random life altering thoughts.

We have stayed HOME the past two weekends and it was very nice, although both weekends we were still crazy busy!! Last weekend was the Tennessee game, we looked like CRAP at first...but ended up winning pretty handily. Something about those Gamecocks, no game is ever a guarantee. It was a FUN day of college football though...sadly I have totally slacked on picture taking this season and only got THREE pictures all day. That should be a crime folks. Mikey and I in the game. Muah! Tailgating. The Friday night before the game, we went to a surprise birthday party. It was a fun low key night spent outside around a fire. TWO weekends ago, one of my dear friends got married! Everything was beautiful, the bride was gorgeous, even though once again ...my BAD picture taking...I have NO pictures with her. Some of the girls at the reception. Loves. Hubby and me=) Now for my random thoughts: 1. So SC had a GOP sweep. Feels pretty good. We elected our very first female governor, pretty cool.

30 Day Challenge: Day 13

Day 13: Goals. Ummm...where to even start. From making teeny tiny goals every day or HUGE life goals. I make a lot of them. I do have to admit though...I am not the best at sticking to them. For instance, I have had a goal to lose 10 pounds for about ummm....since March. How well has that goal gone? Yeah...it hasn't. I also set a goal to start working out in the morning before work. Again, not so much. I have done it a few times here and there...YAY me. No really, it actually is pathetic...I don't have to be at work super early... I live 10 minutes from work and I work out at home. Enough said. I need to make this goal a reality ....like yesterday. In all reality though I do have life goals that are important to me: 1. Be happy and fulfilled in my career by the age of 35. I don't necessarily have a dream of becoming "partner" at some snazzy law firm, or even owning my own practice. I am not quite sure what I want out of my career at the moment (but I a

30 Day Challenge: Day 12

Day 12 : What I believe OR a very random posting on everything and anything I believe. This topic is way too broad for me. I believe in God, first and foremost. I believe in true love. I believe that my momma and daddy can and will fix anything that needs fixing in my life. I believe my husband is the perfect husband for me. I believe in having a solid group of BEST girlfriends, which I have and love. I believe that a book, hammock, and a view of the water can cure any bad day. I believe in AMERICA. Even though we fail at things sometimes, we are the GREATEST nation in the world. I believe in the CAROLINA GAMECOCKS, even though it is a tad challenging at times. (Particularly for our football team, thank God for baseball, right!?!) I believe a long day on the beach or the boat makes for the best kind of day. I believe most people are good. And those that aren't, want to be....they just got lost somewhere along the way. I believe being around children so that you can act like a

APATHETIC

This may be the FIRST big election since I have turned 18 (not that many years, but hey...who's counting?) where I am truly apathetic about tomorrow. I hate it, but it's true. Of course I am going to vote...and of course there are a handful of candidates that I do feel strongly about, but that's it, just a handful. Because I am not trying to sway anyone's opinions over here or am not any sort of "public official" with influence, I will say I am a conservative. I have always voted that way (with the exception of a few peeps here and there) and will vote *mostly* that way tomorrow. No need to get in to specifics here...I like to call myself a "fiscal conservative" with some moderate conservative views as well. Not really the point right now. The point is, with that being said...I am not truly excited about any of the candidates, Republican or Democrat (reminder I am only talking about S.C. politics here) for tomorrow. I don't really know how
