It's not pinterest worthy, but it's all mine...

So, I finally got around to taking some pictures of our house so I can document what all we've done and what all we still have to do....it's never ending, folks!

We will start with the master bedroom, because it is my favorite room in our house so far.

The GRAND before.  BLAND and BORING.  I think they painted the whole house the same color in order to sell, but come on...ZERO personality.
Step One: ripping up that boring beige carpet and installing hardwoods.  My husband LOVED this project... thank goodness he had a couple friends help him :-)

Step Two: PAINT.  It really is amazing what a can of paint can do.  Paint is same color as prior house master bedroom, waterscape by Sherwin Williams.

Those two things clearly made the BIGGEST difference and really was all we did to the actual room.  I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to put in a gorgeous chandelier...but I haven't quite sold Mikey on getting rid of the ceiling fan yet.  I admit, I love a fan in the summer...but we haven't turned ours on in forever.  I used to use it for noise, but now with my noise machine it is unnecessary, I keep telling Mikey we can put a small fan in the tv cabinet/armoire and he will never know the difference, but like I said...NOT SOLD YET :-(

Anyways, now.... on for the after pictures.

From the bathroom looking towards the bedroom.
Nightstand styling...clearly I need some help in this area.
From the hall looking in.
My side:)  Love that picture of my sweet baby.
Again, from the hall.
Dresser.
Another view.

Full view of dresser.  Notice the empty wall...will discuss below.

Bedding: almost finished with this process!!! All I want to do here is get a new headboard (can't make up my mind on what though...) and add one bolster pillow.
Bed, again.
First up...where it's all from.

White coverlet and shams: My mom got this at market in ATL for me
Euro shams: Duralee aqua fabric, custom
King shams: Braemore gazebo cloud, custom
Monogrammed pillows: white covers from Ballard Designs, monogrammed locally (and I'm quite obsessed with them!)
Nightstand lamps: Ballard Designs
Mirrored nightstands: JC Penny
Bird painting: found locally (the original inspiration for the room/colors...I still love it!)
Dresser: hand me down from the folks, currently painted Dorian Gray by SW....after seeing a few dresser makeovers recently  (ahem...I'm looking at you Ashley and Centsational Girl's post from today...I'm thinking of revamping mine a little.  The spray painted original pulls were never meant to be permanent I just haven't decided what direction to go in yet...but now I have new awesomeness to copy!  )
Blank wall: ha!  But, for real...I can't decide what to do here for the life of me.  I have a small piece of furniture that is sort of like a little cabinet that may work...and I would paint it the same color as the dresser...I just don't know if that's the right piece or not.
TV Cabinet/Armoire: built by my amazing daddy. And no, it cannot be painted nor would I want to.  I love the mix.
Chair: Pier One from forever ago...this is currently on the to do list.
Lamp on dresser: Z Gallerie.
Mirror above dresser: Ballard Designs\
White curtain panels: Pottery Barn
Antique brass curtain rods: Target

And now, in Young House Love fashion...here is what I still want to do:

1. Headboard.  Upholstered?  Wood?  No clue.  Cannot make up my mind.
2. Chair.  Need new chair for corner. I saw a perfect one at TJ Maxx way back and should have bought the dang thing...it was gray linen and gorgeous...and for a good price.  Kicking myself for not buying it.
3. Bolster pillow and pillow for chair.
4. Revamp dresser (re paint?  re do pulls, new pulls?)
5. Decide on blank wall
6. Dresser/nightstand styling help
7. Hang pictures that are being framed as we speak on wall where chair is
8. Rug? Can't decide about this either...I love the clean look of bare floors sometimes.

Not too bad, right?  I will say I'm pretty proud of this room. Besides asking my interior designer SIL a few questions regarding my fabric choices, I picked out everything else.  And like I said...it may not be pinterest worthy, but IT'S ALL MINE.  And I LOVE it...and that's all that really matters.

Happy Tuesday!

xoxo

  1. Who did you have monogram locally? I am a Columbia girl needing to have my shams monogrammed as well and I think yours look great!

  2. I had It's personal do them (in Irmo on St. Andrews Road) and although I LOVE the way they look, it was pricey for such a big monogram. I've also used The Outlet Store (used to be in Boozer shopping center) and now in west cola i think.

2019 family Village Creek trip

Our 2019 summer family vacation was everything I could have asked for, and more!  This year, my parents and nephew joined us for the week so we had extra fun!  (and extra chaos of course, too!)  We did ALL the things, but yet also did ALL the relaxing.  We arrived on G and T's actual, bday so we started our trip with a special birthday lunch in downtown Beaufort with just the boys since Collins rode down with my mom.  We also finally experienced the drive in movie that night for Toy Story 4 and it was AWESOME!  We only had one day of cloudy weather so that was awesome!  We ventured to Bohicket Marina, Harbor Town, Harbor Island, Edisto Island, Botany Bay, our favorite sandbar AND downtown Beaufort by boat, we had a ball!   My dad got some AMAZING fireworks and we had a little show for the culdesac, so much fun!!  Mikey and I even got to sneak out one night for a date night, headed to our fav, Sal

My Pinterest inspired master bedroom makeover part one.

The BEFORE pictures. I've been itching to re-do my master bedroom for quite some time now. I am one of those people that likes to re decorate quite often...unfortunately for my bank account. Mikey's mom bought him a full queen sized bedroom suite when he graduated college, which was wonderful. It is very nice furniture and has served us well. But, I am SOOO sick of all the dark matchy-matchy look it brings. I will use this furniture again in a guest bedroom one day...but for now, it's time to retire it from my master. All of my bedding and rug I had previously...I've now had this zebra/brown/green theme for almost 4 years...so over it! Fortunately for us...my brother and SIL got a new bed...so what do we get?? Their old KING size bed!! Woohoo. I do NOT like for people to touch me when I sleep, I need my space...I've been wanting a king for so long. Even though our room isn't the biggest the king is working out okay...we aren't going to be in this h

These are the days.

Goodness gracious, I LOVE summer.  I talk it to death every year, but it is especially important to me during this season of life where the school year brings homework/schedules/strict bed times/extra curricular craziness- I appreciate the LAZY days of summer EVEN MORE. I've tried to be intentional about taking a half day here and there to soak up TIME with my babies.  Because Lord knows, they aren't babies for long.  (Yes, I'm referring to my 7 and 5 year olds as babies- #cantstopwontstop ) When we returned from our anniversary trip, we got back early on a Tuesday and used the rest of the day to spend quality family time together.  We took the kids to a local water park, this was all of our first time visiting- and we had a ball!   That same week, my girl and I dressed up and attended her very first company banquet for dance, too much fun!  Lake days with friends are sooooo good for me- we've so enjoyed many of them this summer
