{our weekend.}

Whew!! Another fabulous weekend that went by WAY TOO fast. Boo to that!  This is technically not the weekend, but 7 of us ventured up to Rock Hill to see our best friend and take her to dinner to celebrate her BIG 30 BIRTHDAY on Thursday night. We had 8 total, 4 pregnant. Do HUH!? It's nuts. I LOVE it. It was so fun to do something like that during the week, love these girls so much. We will definitely have to celebrate the birthday girl again when she isn't 36 weeks pregnant!! This weekend is one I look forward to all summer...even though the past two years I haven't really been able to take advantage of all of the festivities that are offered, it's still a SUPER FUN day out on the boat.  And if you know me at all, you know I LOVE an all day boat day.  It's my jam.  This was the second weekend of the 58th Annual Beaufort Water Festival.  I can remember going to this when I was little way before we ever thought about owning a house in Beaufort.  It'

Sharp objects

Real quick update to let y'all know I just finished one of the weirdest books to date. Like, disturbingly GROSS. I liked Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn reasonably well so I thought I would give this one a shot. Granted, I couldn't put it down.... Which in my eyes means a GOOD read but have mercy!!! Sharp Objects is just plain sick. On so many levels. I read it so fast because i did want to know the end result but woah. Just be prepared.  I think I need a nice light read next....

A boring post about money. (Ugh)

I’ve come to a conclusion.    Either:   a)        The LARGE majority of the country uses credit cards (a lot) OR b)        A LOT of people make a LOT of money…. For real, y’all.  I feel like no matter how much money I make, it’s never enough.  Do y’all have days like that?   I’m just baffled.  I feel like to be 29 (ahem…a few more months I can say this and I am clinging to it for as long as possible) and 30, Mikey and I do decently well.  We aren’t loaded by ANY stretch of the imagination, we aren’t even a couple that “does pretty well for themselves” by other peoples standards…but we make a decent living.  Granted, we have a LOT of debt/expenses right now that will go away within the next 5-7 years (student loans and day care!!).  I’m sure other stuff will come up, but until we have car payments for our kid(s) and/or college tuition to worry about I don’t know how anything could compare to spending about $1500/month in student loans and daycare.  (And it’s only going to get worse befo

{our weekend}

So, this weekend was GORGEOUS.  And we didn’t go out on the lake ONCE.  GASP.  It stresses me out when we are in town and don’t go out on the lake if it is pretty.  Last weekend, the weather wasn’t that great…so it was okay. This weekend, I was bummed. BUT, I couldn’t really be mad…because my dad and Mikey SLAVED away ALL day Saturday and Sunday and built our deck.  And it is AMAZING.   But, it just gives me a little bit of anxiety knowing the lake is SO close and we don’t take advantage when there are only so many gorgeous summer weekends.  Totally wish we would have this deck built in the fall or last winter, but that just wasn’t on our agenda back then.   Oh well, such is life.  We still had a great weekend, Mikey worked his tail off…and I played.  Haha, just kidding.  I played Saturday but did errands/cleaning/helped Sunday…so I wasn’t totally worthless;-)   Mikey got home Friday around 1 from SC Bankers School and started working immediately.  Friday was spent bringing all of the

The Friday Five.

*oops, just realized this never posted on Friday, so now you get the Friday Five...on Sunday:) The Friday Five. 1.     1.     I am slightly obsessed with my “new” chair.  I absolutely LOVE the more modern fabric on the traditional wing back.  Cannot wait for my sectional and pillows to come in.  Happy day!  2.       2.    MIKEY IS HOME!!!  Maybe that should have been number ONE J  ha!  I don’t like to announce it to the interwebs…obvi, but I’ve been livin’ life as a single parent this past week and ME NO LIKEY.  I’ve said this before…I hate to complain when I know so many others have it harder, but I am NOT an “alone time” type person and I do NOT like being by myself.  Like, I get so bored.  I guess I could have been productive this time, and done something useful…but I just wasn’t up for it.  So I ate Lucky Charms for dinner two nights, had my parents buy us/make us dinner two nights and had a spend the night girls night last night with my lady loves.  Collins

Babies, babies, babies!

I guess we grow 'em in spurts around here. My group of friends is on round two of a lot of babies coming around same time!! So exciting! BABY girls, especially!! We are determined that if our next “in town” friend to get pregnant has a girl we are entering our group into a study.  Like, it’s crazy how many girls we have had in our group….all of my college girls that are still close that have had babies in past two years, the out of towners have had boys and all of us in Columbia had or are having girls.  WHAT the WHAT?!?   We had a baby shower a few Sundays ago for the next girl to join the group….sweet baby Saylor.  She’s due to arrive at the beginning of September.  Kayla is one of those girls who doesn’t love pink….and Saylor’s nursery is in yellow and gray, so we decided to use those colors for the shower.  It was a sweet shower with lots of SWEETS.  We did it on a Sunday afternoon and the mama to be LOVES sweets.  So, that’s what we gave her.  We had a beautiful

{our weekend}

This weekend was a bit different for us.  As in, it was a summer weekend and we didn’t have ANYTHING going on.  Crazy, right?? Friday night we enjoyed our date night…although The Great Gatsby wasn’t so “great” for me.  It was definitely good, but I wasn’t a fan of the production and really felt as if it could have been better.  It was still nice to go to a late dinner/relax/have drinks and talk with the hubby and then enjoy a movie together. As much as I wanted to go on the lake Saturday, the rain would NOT allow that, which ended up being kinda nice as we were SUPER productive around the house.  It’s hard for me to “waste” a perfectly good Saturday doing house chores, but when the weather is crappy it makes it A-OKAY.  Mikey and I tore up our existing deck, major demolition going on… (Okay, maybe not major…but still fun) and removed all of the huge brick pavers from the patio.  Our new deck is going in this coming weekend and we are laying sod where the existing patio was…it just took

The Friday five.

Jumping back on the link up bandwagon :-) 1. I posted this picture to instagram the other night, as kind of a joke.  But, you all know how many articles/blog posts have been written about the “perfectness” of everyone’s life via social media.  And it is so true, who wants to post pictures of yourself doing the dishes or having a fight with your husband?  Clearly NO ONE…which is why social media is (for the most part) ALL HAPPY and RAINBOWS and BUTTERFLIES ALL THE TIME.  Collins is generally still a good baby…but she has, without a doubt, entered “toddlerhood” or also known as “Collins wants to do what SHE wants to do and WHEN SHE wants to do it.”  Obviously, we don’t let her do this all the time…but it’s kinda cute/funny/scary how she’s getting her own little (stubborn) personality.  This was the other night when she just wasn’t having me not holding her…of course I can’t hold her all the time, but of course I want to hold her and love on her as much as possible at nights, but I can’t

{our weekend}

{our weekend}   I felt like this past weekend was a pretty laid back one, even though we had two birthday parties to attend and spent some good time out on the lake Saturday.  I always feel this way though when we have at least one weekend night of not doing ANYTHING and we are IN town.  We seriously had something going on 7 out of 8 nights last week…so by the time FRIDAY night rolled around (unfortunately, Mikey and I both worked the Friday after the 4 th …boo to that!) we were POOPED.  Seriously, we ate at Moe’s,  played with Collins and I was asleep by 10.  WOAH.  That was nice.  So, on Saturday morning I was up and ready to go by 7:30…so what did we do?  We made a family trip to Lowe’s that lasted THREE hours. YIKES.  But, we had LOTS to buy and some pretty detailed purchases to make.  {We finally bit the bullet and ordered the material to install a fence and deck in the back yard.  Cannot wait to make that happen!}  Collins was an ANGEL for about 2.5 hours of the Lowe’s trip…we to

Massive catch up, part 2: my MAN is 30!!

Even my catch up posts are going to be out of order...such is life, right?  Mikey turned THIRTY on June 20. And, of course I had a surprise party planned. And, of course he figured it out. BOO. I'm not really sure how, except I think knowing me, he just expected it. That sounds bad, but I totally get it. We've been to so many surprise parties, 30th dinners, etc. he just knew (and rightly so) that I was going to do something for him. I tried to play it off that we were celebrating his birthday that weekend in Beaufort by inviting another couple down with us, apparently he didn't buy it. I also tried to say that we were just gonna meet our families for dinner on his actual birthday, since that is when we did the surprise. But, yeah...that didn't work either. Whatever, it was fun. I'll never try and surprise him again.  Turd head. We had my brother and SIL pick us up by boat and ventured over to Liberty's for the big event. We seriously have som
