weekend rewind

We had a busy, fun(!!) weekend and ended it with a trip to the ER  Sunday night …. womp womp.    Mikey and I attended a coworker’s wedding Friday after work and then went out and met up with a big group of friends for a birthday celebration later that night…  we missed the dinner and just met up for drinks, but getting together with friends at a restaurant (without kids) is always a good time.  Wish we could do it more often.   Collins and two of her friends attended a little half day cheer clinic at Carolina  Saturday morning  and then they got to perform at half time of the men’s basketball game right after, so we headed downtown for lunch after the cheer camp and then went to the game.  We were SO proud of our girl…she smiled the whole time and rocked it!  They were all so cuteJ   We stayed until a little after halftime, and then needed to get back home for a little rest/nap/regroup time before Mikey and I had to go to a wedding shower.  Like I said, busy weekend.  We had the best t

the Friday five

Having Monday off work is amazing, but it also makes me feel like my work week  just  started and it’s already FRIDAY!! WHAT?!!  Not complaining though!   1.       Busy weekend ahead, we started off with another gala last night for Mikey’s work…have a wedding tonight and a wedding shower  Saturday night !  Thank goodness we have grandparents close by for the babysitter rotation or otherwise we’d go broke. But, the kids did say they had a blast with their babysitter, Ms. Shelby last night…so that’s always a good thing.     2.       The house is moving along, quickly!  Thank goodness for that!  We are still living in chaos, mainly because the floors will be one of the last things to be installed and until then everything is in disarray.  BUT, our countertops were installed yesterday (WOOOHOOO to that!), the painter continues knocking out rooms and the bathroom is getting tiled this weekend!      3.       I saw this picture on Instagram from a builder…I am OBSESSED with that island color,

FIVE

To my sweet, beautiful girl:   FIVE.  How in the world did we get here so quickly? You have been over the moon excited about turning five for the past few months, in your eyes, (and mine) five is for-real “big girl” status.  It hurts my heart to think about, and as much as I want you to stay LITTLE, we all know that doesn’t happen and I am just as excited about watching you grow and learn and take on your new “big girl” age.   My Colls… you are sweet, sassy, sensitive and seriously the BEST big sister on the planet and so protective over your little brothers.  Being the oldest, sometimes I worry that daddy and I put too much on you and expect too much; but you generally don’t mind a bit and always enjoy being our little “mini mama”.  Your teachers always tell me how sweet and polite you are; and they all talk about how much you help out with your brothers at preschool.  There’s not much that makes me prouder.  You definitely get sassy at home with daddy and me, and we have to politely

weekend rewind

Gosh, we had such a good, long holiday weekend.  We spent most of the weekend celebrating our girl, who turned FIVE on Friday.  FIVE.  I can’t believe it.   We’ve had a lot going on lately… Valentine’s Day celebrations, birthday celebrations, and a fancy night out for Mikey and me.  Busy, busy!    We spent Friday celebrating the birthday girl all day long…. Birthday pancakes and presents in the morning, a celebration at preschool and then after work we took the kids to Frankie’s Fun Park for the first time…they have a HUGE fun house that the kids played in for a long time and then the birthday girl got to ride go carts with her daddy!  Then, we capped off the night by taking them to Yamato’s for the first time…C and T were mesmerized by the fire/cooking experience…G was a little scared of it, ha.  But, it was something fun and different for the birthday girl and I think she enjoyed it.    We spent Saturday being mostly lazy…especially me.  Days like that are needed every once in a whil

our new house: house plans

Soooo I always LOOOOOVE looking at house plans. Like, I'm obsessed. But, I have no clue how to use those fancy online tools to make one and I have ZERO artistic ability. So this is what you get! 😂 This is the original floor plan, clearly nothing is to scale... And the red pen is what we changed/added on to, removed, etc.   If you can make any of that out, it sure helps visualize the house better. But, yeah. Maybe I need someone to help me with this... That's all for today!  Busy week and my girl turns FIVE tomorrow. This one hurts, the number just feels so old and big and grown up and it makes my heart hurt.  Enough of that for now.... off to bake cupcakes and wrap presents!! Whether we like it or not, we have a special girl to celebrate tomorrow!  Xoxo

weekend rewind

Whew! Where has the week gone?!  We had a busy weekend with an out of town wedding and our girl's FIFTH birthday party! That'll be a post if it's own though:)   The kids turned into superheroes at lunch one day when i stopped by to see them. I LOVE that I get to go see them so much, sure helps my working mama guilt.

our new house ~ the kitchen!

And last but not least... the kitchen. I wouldn't say the kitchen was terrible, it had been "cheaply" updated fairly recently to a degree as you can see below... but definitely not what we had in mind for our family. All of the existing cabinetry is staying. We will just be painting the cabinets and doing new countertops. We are also adding some cabinets and a pantry. We knocked out the wall that the refrigerator is on and will have one long, narrow island. Can't wait for that!  That wall below is now gone! And here's my dad's drawing of what it'll look like. At the very far left is our pantry, which will be closest to the living room. And then we added a set of cabinets and the refrigerator to that existing wall, and then to the right of the fridge is all existing.  Cannot wait for that island!! My dad framed it out for the cabinets and put a temporary top on it so we could get a feel for size and I'm obsessed!! It will holdfive barstools   for our fa

weekend rewind

Monday, Monday…here we are again.  Our renovation took off this weekend!  Things have gotten crazy and seriously chaotic, but that means progress is being made and we are inching towards the finish line!  I can’t complain about that.     Mikey and Collins attended their first daddy-daughter dance on Thursday and it was just the cutest.  We got together with several friends before to snap some pictures and the mamas sent them off on their merry way!  C said she had a blast and was especially excited telling me about everyone she saw there.  Such a sweet little night out, thanks to our local recreation commission.    We did absolutely nothing  Friday night , which is rare for us, but totally necessary every once in a while.  Saturday and Sunday were spent trying to control the chaos while the men worked at the house, hosting a baby shower, and watching the Super bowl!  Mikey and I went to a fun night out Saturday with his work… but, of course I took no pictures…but it was fun hanging out
