On selling our house

WHAT HAVE WE DONE?!  This is the story about how we came to selling our house.  As I had mentioned (oh just about a time or twelve)…this wasn’t my “forever” house by any means.  I had kinda been feeling “over” this house…ready to move on.  I knew it would either be now or we’d wait until next spring.  I was fine with either option….UNTIL, we stumbled across a  hell  of a deal on a lake lot.  It seemed too good to be true.  So, we decided, what the hell!?  We put the house on the market and figured whatever happens, happens.  Well, it sold in three weeks.  So, there’s that.  Through a series of events…the lake lot we initially thought we were going to get sold and we have a “contingent” offer on another one, it’s still an amazing deal BUT the downfall is it is a small lot.  About the same size we are on now, which isn’t big.  So, the building dream has kinda dwindled.  There are SO many thoughts going through our heads right now.  SO many decisions.  Let me lay them out…   On building:

weekend rewind

Ahhhhh….beach weekends with friends are the BEST.  We had so much fun hanging out with our besties and baby besties.  We stayed up too late, ate too much, laughed, sang (a lot), had dance parties (the adults and the kids), and enjoyed a FULL beautiful day on the beach.  It was wonderful.  The guys played golf early  Saturday morning  while the mamas manned all the kiddos on the beach, and then when the guys got back they stayed in the house for nap time so us girls got some beach time without chasing around 7 kids!  We had the best weather and the kids loved playing in the waves and sand all day.   On Sunday morning  we took the kids to the Garden City pier, arcade AND ice cream shop…all places that are dear to me from my childhood.  My family grew up going to Garden City from the time I was born until I graduated high school…we spent the first week of June there EVERY year.  I love that place.  We ended the trip with lunch on the beach at River City Café…and all the babes were asleep

The Friday five

1.         WE SOLD OUR HOUSE YESTERDAY. omg.  Let that sink in for a minute.  I’m not even sure I mentioned on the blog that we had it listed, but three weeks later and BAM, it sold.  I’m not necessarily having second thoughts…but it’s still  really  bittersweet.  We’ve been in this neighborhood for 4 years now and absolutely love it.  But, we stumbled upon a lake lot that was too good of a deal to pass up…so we listed our house and now we are moving.  WOW. Full post to come next week.    2.          I’m in serious denial that the FOURTH OF JULY is just a little over a week away.  HOW IN THE WOLRD!?  We will have busy, fun, and crazy weekend celebrating our nation’s independence and my baby boys will be celebrating turning TWO!  LOTS to do before party time!     3.         My sweet girl went to cheerleading camp this week…she’s still a bit shy and unsure of herself, but I was SO proud of how well she did at the end of the week performance!    4.         My boys are still a hot mess, al

our formal living and dining rooms

Also known as our playroom and extended playroom...;-). I've never been a fan of a formal living room and I'm so glad newer houses are getting away from that idea. But, our house has one. So we currently use it as a playroom. Like I've said.... Even though we have a huge bonus room upstairs, that would be perfect for a playroom, it's just not practical for this phase of our life. When we get home from work we want to play and interact with the kids... But we also are going to need to be throwing a load of clothes in the wash or starting dinner. So it makes more sense for our kids to be downstairs with us. And plus young kids want to be around their parents (for now anyways!) so I know they wouldn't go upstairs and play alone. I like the location of the playroom bc it's convenient but then again, it's the first room you see when you walk in the house.... So there's that. Our dining room is prob like most people's, and only gets used occasionally for i

weekend rewind

Another weekend come and gone, another weekend rewind for the blog.  I’m such a snooze fest over here…but it is what it is.  We took Friday off and made it a long weekend in Beaufort and it was much needed.  We had plenty of time to relax, swim, play in the sun, nap and everything in between!  We had some friends and my family join us on Friday and enjoyed a nice, low key weekend.  Nothing crazy happened, there were no magical moments, it was simply a good, fun weekend with friends and family.      Happy hump day!! Xoxo

weekend rewind

This past weekend, three of my best girls from college and I (and our families!) rented a lake house to get together.  I had been looking forward to this weekend for a couple months, and it didn’t disappoint!  We had 8 adults and 9 kids together and it was CHAOS, TIRING, HILARIOUS, FUN, and PERFECT!  The kids got along so well and it was so, so good to hang out with my girls that I don’t get to see very often.  We actually packed up our boat(!) and rode over there  Friday night  on the water.  It was only about a 25 minute ride from our neighborhood dock, and of course we’d all rather be on the boat than stuck in a car!  When we got there…the chaos started immediately!  Anything went😜  I pulled out the slip and slide and the kids had a blast…we fed them pizza in the yard and they were all tuckered out by (a little later) bed time!  We cooked that night and were all in bed by midnight…guess that’s what happens when you know you have to be with the little ones the next day!  On Saturday

weekend rewind: part 2

After the dance recital on Saturday, we were BEAUFORT bound!  Memorial day weekend is one of the few times the whole family comes to Village Creek at the same time, it’s chaos, but so fun.  Damn tropical storm Bonnie ruined our boat/sun days…but we made the best of it.  We got lots of relaxation, naps, play time, and finally on Monday some sun!  I love this weekend so much, the official kick off to summer Silly boys  A small break in the rain Sunday and we beelined it for the park  And an ice cream date  Finally warm enough to swim Monday morning  And then the sun came out!! Hallelujah!   We stayed late and ate dinner at the waterfront Sunday night... I got this pic of the kids playing ring around the Rosie below the American flag. How thankful are we of all those that gave all?
