Makeover Monday.

I have been wanting to blog about our home renovations for oh....about, forever now. I just kept forgetting to take "after" pictures. Life's biggest problems huh!?! Anyways...we recently painted our fireplace, so I figured I would start there. I had been wanting to do this for a while, but you know how that goes. I was pretty wishy washy about it at first...keep the charm of the original or go for the all white look? But, then..I saw this GORGEOUS, to die for fireplace in the current Willow House catalog. I mean, I fell in love. White brick fireplace with beautiful thick white mill-work/molding around it. For some awful reason...I can't copy the picture out of the catalog to show you, sads. After this, I knew what had to be done. Paint of course! *And beg my dad to try and copy the mill-work:) I still haven't quite figured out what I want to do about the hearth area, it is a dark brown/red tile...a little more costly of a project to tackle than just pain

30 Day Blog Challenge.

Day 23: Favorite Vacation. I thought about this really hard...(for about 5 seconds) kinda busy today! I just don't know... my favorite , gahh...no fair...i'm cheating. I simply can't choose just one. Maybe going to Steamboat Springs, CO when I was in college with my family. It was kind of like our last vacation as just a family of four. My brother was engaged at the time, but for whatever reason, we just went as the four of us. It was wonderful...I have the best memories of us snowmobiling and skiing together. Matt and I were *finally* old enough to not fight on vacation, (ha!) a big relief for my parents I'm sure, we were all legally allowed to drink (big thumbs up), and it was just plain bad ass. What else can you ask for? Or...maybe it was in high school and we spent a week in Marathon Key, FL. It was for Matt's high school graduation, we each got to bring a friend, and went w. another family. We took our boat, drove for all 16 hours it took and loved ev

My Mexication.

Time to blog about our "relax-cation," Mexico style. Mikey is the Chamber of Commerce representative for Carolina First Bank, the chamber pays for all of their sponsors to go on a trip every year as a thank you to them for raising money for the chamber. Mikey is the chamber rep = a FREE trip to Mexico for us! Pretty good deal, huh!?! As we left Columbia bright and early...(well, not so bright considering it was 5 am and FREEZING outside) Wednesday morning...there was still lots of snow and ice on the ground. I was hoping for really warm weather and a beautiful sunshine the whole time we were in Mexico...unfortunately, that didn't happen:(. The weather just didn't cooperate with us. It was cloudy and windy most of time, with the sun making a debut every once in a while. We did get to sit out by the pool for a few hours Saturday and enjoy a little bit of sunshine, so not all was a lost cause. Not much you can do though, and I wasn't going to complain, cons

A no picture weekend.

We had another wonderful weekend...relaxing, home projects, yummy food, Carolina basketball, and snuggle time were all accomplished. I jokingly refer to weekends like these as a "no picture weekend." I'm bad about only taking pictures at "parties" and events where there are lots of people, or we are dressed up, or there is an occasion, etc. I need to start documenting more of the "everyday" stuff that goes on in our life, cause...well, it's fun too! We had a wonderful dinner at Dianne's on Devine in Columbia, it was restaurant week and we had a group of 12 that took advantage of the amazing deal together. Mikey and I painted our fireplace, yay! Pictures to come later, we still have to add one more coat. We thought we were done Saturday when we left, but when we got home late Saturday night we noticed it wasn't quite there yet. We watched Carolina lose to Kentucky in basketball, dang it. But, it was a fun game... We went to a fun bar

Current necessities.

Thought I would share some of my current necessities. At the moment, these items are with me/on me every day. 1. Hanky Panky ...well, just because they are the most comfortable ever. 2. I love these bars....so yummy, filling, and I think pretty good for you! I like the amount of fiber, it keeps me full for a while. I usually eat one of these for breakfast with a banana or something. I am the WORST morning person, and never give myself enough time to get ready...so breakfast is always done in the car. 3. My droid incredible. Of course, Verizon comes out with the I-phone weeks after I get this. But, honestly...I don't really care. I've never had an i-phone, so I don't know what I'm missing I guess. I love the droid, it amazes me! The only thing that drives me nuts is the battery life... perhaps i am just on my phone way too much! 4. My favorite chap stick. I apply it 50 times a day. 5. Bare Escentuals : Faux tan bronzer. Helps me not look like Casper during t

Snow day pics.!

I don't have much time to do a thoughtful blog post today, but I thought I could at least share my snow day pictures. We get a little excited in SC when it snows...it was so pretty! *I promise we have legit ski clothes, but this was literally right after we rolled out of bed...we were too excited to fool with it! In other news....I, Caroline Glenn...*this is a BIG deal if you know me* have become OBSESSED with my dog. Whew...glad that's out there:) Milly LOVED playing...till that night when the snow had turned to ice. Our yard was like an ice skating rink, she didn't really like that so much. I loved the snow...it was fun. But, now...I don't need to see it again till next year. It's great for one day off work...but we were out of commission for almost a week here in SC, ridiculous! I like to go to the mountains and ski to see my snow!

My opinion, because it's always right.

Okay, okay...I really don't think that. I'm only right like 99% of the time:) I thought I would do a good movie and book review though...I have seen and read quite a few lately. I know everyone can't wait...*most exciting post ever, right?* 1. The American. Major snooze fest, don't waste your time. I had several people agree. So seriously, don't waste your time. They fool you pretty good with the trailer, looks like it is going to be action-packed, good story. WRONG. 2. Eat Pray Love . So...I never got thru the book, ever . This is the FIRST time that has EVER happened to me. I finally just gave up, it was pointless...I was forcing myself to get thru India...I hated that part. Welp...what do you know? The movie was the same way. Okay, maybe it had to do with the fact that I was pretty exhausted when we started watching it...but I just didn't love it. It pains me to say that because I love Julia Roberts and think she is one of the best actresses of

30 Day Blog Challenge...yep, I'm still truckin' along!

Thought I forgot all about this little thing did you!?! No sirreee!! Just stretching it out into more of a 300 day blog challenge...you know, because that totally makes sense. Anyways, on with it. Day 22: Your Favorite City. Hmph. For starters...I'm not a world traveler...my parents weren't/aren't big travelers. We go to the beach a million times a year...and went snow skiing a lot growing up, but as far as going to big cities?? Yeah...notsomuch. I've now been to the "big" ones I guess: Vegas, NYC, Chicago, Boston, Atlanta, Charlotte, Key West, Atlantic City, Orlando, Jacksonville, Charleston, you get the point... But, my FAVORITE city? That really stumps me. If you know me or have read this blog at all, you know that my favorite place on earth is Beaufort, SC...for way too many reasons to name right now. But, I don't really consider that a "city" for obvious reasons. I mean, I guess...maybe not so obvious, it is a city; but when I think

Woahsidaisies. *I know...it's not a word.*

I feel like it is has been FOREVER since I've blogged...but you know, between a super amazing, laid back, nothing to do weekend, crazy winter storm of 2011 and a little trip to a fun place called MEXICO, there just hasn't been much time!! So how shall we catch up? With bullets of course! -Two weekends ago was one of the best weekends ever...wanna know why? Because we did nothing!! It was marvelous...I needed a re-charge type weekend, little did I know I would get to re-charge a little too much with the impending snow storm 11'. Seriously though, we spent the whole weekend relaxing on the couch, watching movies, did some cleaning, some snuggling, and lots of sleeping. Pure bliss. -That Sunday we did get motivated and headed out to church and brunch with friends...it was freezing, but a perfect end to what I thought was the last of my laziness for a while...well at least until we left for Mexico that following Wednesday. Little did I know I would wake up Monday mornin

SALT and a little wine.

That's what is on my agenda for the evening and I couldn't be more excited! This may be the first weekend in, um....forever that we don't have anything to do! Yippeee!!! I need a weekend off majorly. I just want to lay in my pj's all day Saturday and be lazy....it has been a long time since I did this. *Well, technically...I did this on Tuesday, because I was home from work sick...but being sick, I couldn't really enjoy it.* I want to sleep in, read, relax, maybe do a little cleaning, organizing, who knows! I rented the movie SALT for us to watch tonight, I hear it's pretty good. I plan on heading straight home, indulging in a bubble bath with a big glass of vino, then getting comfy for a night on the couch. We don't have weekends like this very often, so I must take full advantage! We leave for Mexico BRIGHT and early Wednesday, I need all the rest I can get for that! Have a great weekend!

...and i'm back.

Sort of. I'm finally feeling better after that awful virus infected my body. I still feel sick, but compared to what I was feeling, I feel 100x better. That was just awful...I hate being sick. Anyways, I've yet to share our New Years trip. We headed to Brevard, NC, which is only a little over 2 hours away, so that was nice. We rented a beautiful cabin on a lake in the mountains with NINETEEN of our best friends. Woah-se-daisies. NINETEEN. Yep. That's right, all under ONE roof. It was perfect though. The house was huge so we had plenty of room to spread out, and some people could only stay two nights, so we we really only 19 for one of the nights. It was my favorite way to spend New Years. We've done the whole "dress up, pay a bunch of money" type events plenty of times. They are fun, but just not really what I am interested in doing anymore. I'd rather spend quality time with those that I love. We played so many games and had so many laughs

In a FIGHT

with my immune system....ugh. Seriously. What gives? I get sick a good bit, typically though, just sinus or cold that doesn't really put me out completely, just slows me down a bit. It's a pain, but manageable. Well, last week I had a stomach bug and now this week I have a viral infection. I ended up going to the doctor last night because I was running a fever, I haven't had fever in YEARS. I wanted to rule out the flu since MEXICO is next week. I literally felt like someone had beaten me with a bat last night...I feel better today, but not much. Sucky. Anyways, fun blogging to resume in the next few days, I just don't have the energy to be creative right now. Blah........ On a happy note, I finally packed up all my Christmas decorations Sunday when we got home from the mountains, even though I was sad to see it go. But, I DO NOT want to pack my cards up yet, I just love looking at them........
