The Friday five: twins edition

I’ve been wanting to document the things that make life a taaaaad bit easier with twins.  (but, let’s be honest…logistically, life is a CIRCUS with a 2 year old and twin newborns! We make a scene everywhere we go;-)   )   So…in case anyone reads this that’s expecting twins….  (KATE?!?)  Here are FIVE facts/products/not necessary’s of having twins….   1.       I would NOT have been able to tandem breastfeed like I have without the MY BREAST FRIEND twin nursing pillow.  Now granted, I didn’t try any other brands (because I was given this one) so I’m sure any BIG, made for TWO babies nursing pillow would work…but it’s definitely not possible to tandem nurse on one boppy or one single my breast friend.  Well…anything’s possible I guess…one day in the front seat of my car I tandem nursed both boys without ANY pillow or support…it was interesting to say the least!   2.       Baby Jogger City Select stroller.  This thing is the BOMB.  I like it because it has a big enough basket underneath to

The state fair: aka the best people watching around.

Ah. The fair. For some reason, even amongst all the grossness, the fair is one of my favorite things to do. Being there at NIGHT... It's just something about the lights, the smells of the greasy food and the sounds.... I love it.  However, I'm not sure Collins will share my enthusiasm;-) Little bug wasn't quite so sure about the rides she went on... The ice cream was definitely the best part for her! My mom graciously offered to keep the boys for us so we could spend some alone time with Collins. Mikey's mom joined us and we had a nice little family evening at the fair on Sunday. We saw the sights, rode the kiddie rides, and ate till our hearts content. It was a fun night. I may have to invest in child leashes when we take the boys for the first time:-) Selfies with my girl  Love this boog Fake smile Roller coaster with Mimi The one ride she did alone... This is how she looked the WHOLE.ENTIRE.RIDE.  I can't tell if she's terrified or bored.... Selfies with my l

Manic Monday

Whew!   Another JAM PACKED weekend.  I’ll have to break up my recap into a few posts because we did some pretty cool things this weekend that I want to properly documentJ  But, goodness….i did NOT want to get out of bed this morning.  YIKES.    We started off the weekend with a little family date  night on Friday .  We went out to dinner and then took Collins to her first high school football game (well first football game ever, since she hasn’t actually gone IN a Carolina game…only tailgatedJ ) .  It was homecoming for our high school so we thought it would be a fun thing to do.  C LOVED it…mainly dancing to the band and watching the cheerleaders;-)  The boys did great....pretty sure they could not care less about their surroundings most nights!  Sadly, I didn’t take any pictures…shame!  We will just have to go to another one so I can document, duh.  It’s CRAZY to me how much my high school has changed…I feel like I was just there 5 years ago, not ummm…. 13. Our other weekend festivit

The Friday five.

1. Although I didn't take one single picture... We had some fun company and a super fun night last Saturday with our good friends who are moving our way!!!! Woohoo!! Or friends came to our house and we all went out on a little happy hour cruise around the lake (with the kiddos!) before heading out for the evening. We thoroughly ( ;-) ) enjoyed ourselves at a little house party and my parents kept all three kids overnight!!! This is the second time I've been away from the boys overnight but the first they've been without either parent. Fortunately, they did great! 2. We have a super busy weekend ahead and I'm excited! We are going to the pumpkin patch, charlotte to watch my daddy do the nascar experience AND my favorite... The fair!!! Fiske fries here I come!! 3. I finally start getting in the fall spirit this time of year...not sept 1 like some crazy fools!;-). I've officially "fall-ified" our house and am on the hunt for some new plants for the front porc

Some pretties for your Tuesday.

If money grew on trees... (Can't someone make that happen already!?) I would be bringing these beauties home with me ASAP.  I still lust over this bag and the price point isn't terrible... Need to make this my new bag for this year.  Modalu: the pippa PB teen. I mean.... I want this for my bedroom! Some Lilly loves. Ahhh. Perfection. Unfortunately Serena and Lily... Don't think I'm anywhere close to spending this much on a light fixture. I think Mikey would have a stroke:-) I hope to make a few of these pretties mine over the next few months.  Happy Tuesday!

The Glenn twins: three months

Me oh my! I can't believe my little babies are now THREE months old! Three months brought one very huge new thing...mama went back to work sept 29. Month three brought on huge SMILES! G and T give me those big, gummy grins now and it melts my heart.  Both are now in size 1 diapers, G can still rock newborn clothes and Thomas can wear 0-3 and 3 month. They really are pretty good little babies:-) There are definitely times when both are crying/screaming or sometimes between the hours of 5-7 we have to hold them... But I feel like that's pretty par for the course with infants.  They are sleeping great!! Not quite as good as big sister was at this point, but they are smaller than her and I'm not sure they should go that long without food yet.  I typically nurse them for the last time each night somewhere around 10/10:30 and the past week they have consistently been sleeping 8 hours at night. (Sometimes closer to 9!) I will slowly start putting them to bed earlier and earl

Another one in the books.

Some weekends are CRAZY busy and super fun.  (Like the one we had two weekends ago).  Some are a little busy and a little laid back.  And every once in a while we have a weekend where we are super lazy (that doesn’t happen very often though!)   This past weekend falls in category number two.  We had no plans  Friday night , so it was spent shopping:-)  Duh.  Only kidding…but one my favorite kids clothing stores was having their tent sale so we went there after work, yes…it was a family event.  Mikey had plans for a boys golf weekend (since I had my girls day/night in Charleston, it was his turn to take a little time off)…  but he didn’t want to leave until after Collins went to bed Friday night…that way I was only by myself for one night.  So, we did a little shopping…grabbed some dinner at Wild Wings and were home by 8.  Mikey helped get C bathed and in bed and then he headed to the upstate for the weekend.  The boys and I watched Grey’s and Nashville:-) Pretty relaxing Friday  night

Something to be thankful for.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again….I’m about 95% positive I could NOT stay at home  full  time.  I just had THREE of the best months of my life HOME with my babies…time I treasured so incredibly much.  However, I think for ME…I treasured them so much because I knew they would be coming to an end.  I had TWIN NEWBORNS and a TODDLER at home with me all day long for THREE months (with the exception of when C started preschool the last couple of weeks) and it was FABULOUS.   I thoroughly enjoyed it,  however  there weren’t many days that I didn’t  need  to get out and DO something.  I just get so antsy at home and I thoroughly enjoy the adult interaction and brain stimulation that I get at my job.  Whether we went to Target, the grocery store or met Mikey for lunch…we had to get out and about a lot for my sanity.  So, when I say FULL time, that’s what I mean.   Without a doubt, in a perfect world, I would work three days a week or work from 8-3 every day or something like that.   T

The Friday Five

1. I celebrated a birthday Tuesday. Birthdays just aren't as exciting when you get to this age ;-) We didn't do much which was perfectly fine by me. I came home to Mikey and Collins baking me a cake and them we took a little sunset cruise around the lake before dinner. I spent the evening with my favorite people, my little family of five (i still can't believe we are a family of five!) and on my favorite place (a boat on lake murray). It was a good night. I had a girls dinner last night and Sunday we are celebrating with my family as my mama's birthday was yesterday!  Collins icing my cake:-) Sunset cruise. 2. I started on fenugreek and oatmeal this week. We shall see how this goes. Not a big deal if I have to supplement but i would like to keep my supply up! Crazy that the boys are each taking 4 oz now and so that means I need to pump 8 each time... Collins never took more than 6!  3.  My boys turned 3 months old on the 1st!  4. Mama has the wants. BAD. There are so ma
