The big reveal.

How we told the family.

Everything was so much fun!! I was DYING to tell our families...we had known for about two weeks, but wanted to go to the doctor first before we spilled the beans.

My family- Granddaddy and Lolly: I had it ALL planned out. And you know what happens to the best laid plans....yeah. So we decided we would use our precious little niece Belle as the way we surprised my family with the news. We bought a little t shirt, we attached the ultrasound picture to it and put on there " I am getting a cousin." The plan was this: we were driving out to Chapin (where my parents and Mikey's dad live) to take Milly to his dad's house for the weekend. I called my mom casually asking if they wanted to meet for dinner. I knew they had Belle that day, mom was randomly keeping her for the day...so that part of the plan was easy. I knew at least, that my parents and Belle would be available to meet for dinner. Unfortunately my brother and SIL had had a really crazy, busy day and didn't want to come. Well, I didn't want to push it...so I just left it at that and figured we would stop by their house after dinner and surprise them. Anyways, we all met up at my dad's office and were just going to walk next door to a little mexican restaurant. Again....going with the casual vibe so they wouldn't get suspicious. I took Belle to the bathroom with me at my dad's office, thinking I would just slip the shirt on her and we would walk out and SURPRISE!!! Well...hahahaha, joke was on me. NEVER did it even cross my mind that my precious little Belle wouldn't put the shirt on. She wouldn't even touch it!!!!! But, yes...she's three and has a mind of her own. (Lesson number one for my future parenting book, ha!) Seriously though..."no cay-ine (what she calls me) I wear tomorrow." I begged and pleaded saying it was a BIG surprise for Lolly and Granddaddy (what she calls my parents). But, there was no use. She did NOT want to mess up her dress with some little t shirt. Siiiighhhh...as I said, the best laid plans....

So, I just improvised. I walked out of the office with Belle in one arm and the shirt in the other, holding it out...my parents were right there and Mikey was filming the reaction. I just said..."well, Belle won't put on her new t shirt, but look how cute it is." My parents were both still shocked and SOOOO excited. My dad pulled out his phone RIGHT away because he just had to start spreading the news. If I can figure out how to post the video one day, I will. It's pretty cute...and definitely shows my southern roots:)

Anyways, even though he had to insinuate, we really wanted my brother and SIL to join...so my dad just called my brother and said come to the office NOW...big news. I'm sure they expected it, but it was still fun and I definitely wanted them there to share in our excitement.

Of course, by the time her mommy got there...and we promised skittles for dessert, Belle put the shirt on at dinner. She was soooo freaking cute in it. I told her that the baby was the size of a blueberry ( I was 7 weeks then.) so now every time I ask her what she thinks we should name the baby...she responds with, "blueberry." Melts my heart.

The fam:)

Soooo precious.

Mikey's dad and step-mom: Grandadder and Khaki:

We wanted to use Milly as the way we told Mikey's dad and step mom because they always keep her for us and love her like their own. Mikey got her a cute little bandanna and we attached the ultrasound picture to it. Well, of course....even though we had asked...when we got there only his dad was home. But, it's okay...we said "look, Milly got a new bandanna." We had to encourage him to look a little harder, but he finally figured it out and was so excited for us. Now, on to the funny part. Kathy got home kind of late, she had been helping her son do something and was probably pretty tired, it was about 10 pm at this point. So...we did the same thing with her, saying "look at Milly's new bandanna." She kinda looked across the room and was like, "awww that's cute." But, you know...that kinda fake laugh/smile/she wasn't really that interested. It was sooo funny. So we kept telling her no, she had to look closer. She kept looking at it, closer and closer and STILL didn't see it. Seriously, it was the funniest thing. Finally...Mikey's dad was like..."look at the PICTURE on there...what do you see? Is that an ultrasound?" And swear to you, it still didn't register with her at first...then she finally read the ultrasound that said "hi granddadder and khaki," and SQUEALED with excitement. For real, Mikey's dad said that was the loudest noise he's heard a woman make! Ha! She even said her first thought about the ultrasound was that it was MILLY'S...hilarious!! She's not a blonde, but you would have thought so that night!! I am so sad that I didn't get any pictures, cause it sure was funny!!

Mikey's mom: Mimi, and her friend Woody:

We were heading to Charleston that weekend for a wedding (shock, I know!) which is the whole reason we were taking Milly out to Mikey's dad's house in the first place. Mikey's mom was actually going to be in Charleston for the weekend visiting her "boyfriend" (I don't know what they call it!) which was just perfect. We planned a lunch date for Sunday with the two of them. We headed to one of my favorites in Charleston, mainly for the view...Fleet Landing. Mikey wanted to put the ultrasound in her menu so it would surprise he when she opened it. So he taped it to a little card that read, "Hey Susan, see you in March!" (Mikey calls his mom Susan most of the time, so he thought that would be funny. She FLIPPED when she opened her menu, so fun!! This will be her FOURTH grandchild!! We then called Mikey's sister and sent her the picture, she unfortunately lives in Jacksonville...so there would be no in person surprise for her. We had a great lunch and Mimi is VERY excited to have another grandchild:)

2019 family Village Creek trip

Our 2019 summer family vacation was everything I could have asked for, and more!  This year, my parents and nephew joined us for the week so we had extra fun!  (and extra chaos of course, too!)  We did ALL the things, but yet also did ALL the relaxing.  We arrived on G and T's actual, bday so we started our trip with a special birthday lunch in downtown Beaufort with just the boys since Collins rode down with my mom.  We also finally experienced the drive in movie that night for Toy Story 4 and it was AWESOME!  We only had one day of cloudy weather so that was awesome!  We ventured to Bohicket Marina, Harbor Town, Harbor Island, Edisto Island, Botany Bay, our favorite sandbar AND downtown Beaufort by boat, we had a ball!   My dad got some AMAZING fireworks and we had a little show for the culdesac, so much fun!!  Mikey and I even got to sneak out one night for a date night, headed to our fav, Sal

My Pinterest inspired master bedroom makeover part one.

The BEFORE pictures. I've been itching to re-do my master bedroom for quite some time now. I am one of those people that likes to re decorate quite often...unfortunately for my bank account. Mikey's mom bought him a full queen sized bedroom suite when he graduated college, which was wonderful. It is very nice furniture and has served us well. But, I am SOOO sick of all the dark matchy-matchy look it brings. I will use this furniture again in a guest bedroom one day...but for now, it's time to retire it from my master. All of my bedding and rug I had previously...I've now had this zebra/brown/green theme for almost 4 years...so over it! Fortunately for us...my brother and SIL got a new bed...so what do we get?? Their old KING size bed!! Woohoo. I do NOT like for people to touch me when I sleep, I need my space...I've been wanting a king for so long. Even though our room isn't the biggest the king is working out okay...we aren't going to be in this h

These are the days.

Goodness gracious, I LOVE summer.  I talk it to death every year, but it is especially important to me during this season of life where the school year brings homework/schedules/strict bed times/extra curricular craziness- I appreciate the LAZY days of summer EVEN MORE. I've tried to be intentional about taking a half day here and there to soak up TIME with my babies.  Because Lord knows, they aren't babies for long.  (Yes, I'm referring to my 7 and 5 year olds as babies- #cantstopwontstop ) When we returned from our anniversary trip, we got back early on a Tuesday and used the rest of the day to spend quality family time together.  We took the kids to a local water park, this was all of our first time visiting- and we had a ball!   That same week, my girl and I dressed up and attended her very first company banquet for dance, too much fun!  Lake days with friends are sooooo good for me- we've so enjoyed many of them this summer
