Our glimpse into parenting.

*Disclaimer: In NO way do I think I know how hard/time consuming/awesomely amazing/exhausting/thrilling parenting really is.

Now that that's out of the way...on to share our weekend with my precious little niece. This past weekend Mikey and I got to keep Belle for two nights!! I was ecstatic. Seriously. Matt and Christie (bro and SIL) were going out of town, and my parents were actually out of town too, so we got the pleasure. *my mom was SO SO jealous*

We started out Friday night with some time at Chick fil A...duh. She wanted chicken nuggets, who was I to refuse her? So what if I wanted some too, right? She was a little disappointed because there were no other kids on the play equipment, so she had to make do with us. But, we made the best of it and had a ball. She was the perfect angel...except for that one time she thought it was cute to run thru the restaurant w. no shoes on cause she had to go to the bathroom. No worries, I caught up with her quickly...and anyways, who cares...YAY for Belle letting me know she had to go to the bathroom, big girl:) After CFA, we came home to play; we played with princess dolls, her dora game, and then it was time for a little Beauty and the Beast before bed. Little did I know that this would be the first of many Beauty and the Beast viewings. The munchkin and I got cozy and snuggled together to start watching the movie. She lasted about twenty minutes...and then it was all " i wanna see Gaston kill the beast." She loves this part, loves. I guess because once this happens she sees the beast turn into a handsome priiiince (hard core southern accent with that word, i melt a little each time she says it!) Then, it was bed time!

We woke up Saturday morning at 7 am ready to play! Well, Belle was ready to play...I was a weee bit tired from not being able to fall asleep the night before. *See, I told you I got a glimpse of parenting, you don't ever get sleep when you are a parent, right!?!* No, but really we were good. We started to watch round 2 of BATB, played some more, ate breakfast and then it was time to go to the park. We packed in the car; Belle, Mikey, Milly and me and headed to play. It was so fun...there were lots of other kids there she played with and she loved it. Milly even loved getting to "sniff out" a new area. After the park, Belle and I headed to a puppet play while Uncle Mikey played some golf. We loved the puppet play!

After some lunch and a long nap (during which I cleaned and tried to nap a bit myself, see another example of parenting, ha!) we took a bath and headed to Frankie's Fun Park. She had a ball, we played games and she even rode on the go carts with Mikey, and kept saying "weeeee, go faster!" She was such a good girl the whole time, dinner was at Moe's, then we headed to some friends of ours for a little oyster roast. Of course, this "party" was a little different for Mikey and me...no drinking, watching after a 3 year old, leaving at 9, you know..."parent" stuff. Everyone loved her at the party, she was a mess and ate more boiled peanuts than a 3 year old probably should, oops! Then, it was home for some more BATB watching and bed. *I was worn out myself*

Sunday, we played and snuggled and cooked a big breakfast before it was time to take Belle home. Mikey and I had a wonderful time with the munchkin this weekend, it absolutely melts my heart to hear her say, "I love you so much Aunt Caroline." I can't even imagine hearing that from your own. (Milly, on the other hand...she just didn't know what to think. She didn't love the fact that someone else was getting attention and not her. But, by Saturday...her and Belle had become best friends...well, maybe just from Belle's point of view;) She loved playing with our sweet Mills...and Milly was such a good sport about it.

So there it is, our glimpse into parenting for the weekend...I must say Mikey and I were a little overwhelmed with how tiring it can be. I wouldn't trade it for the world...but it's a good thing to keep in mind, we both agreed anyone thinking about getting pregnant should do this so they may have an itty bitty idea of what to expect. (and let it be known, that we did NOT do this because we are thinking about getting pregnant, as we are not...not anytime soon anyways!) *My favorite example, Mikey was flipping channels and had it on some boring old movie. We didn't think Belle was watching, but she turned around and said "I don't like that movie Uncle Mikey, turn it." haha! Mikey was all "woah...so when we have kids it has to be on cartoons ALL.THE.TIME.??? I told him we would switch off duties when that time came...

Here are some of my favorite pictures of Belle from the weekend:

Kisses for Milly.
Go kart fun with Mikey!

2019 family Village Creek trip

Our 2019 summer family vacation was everything I could have asked for, and more!  This year, my parents and nephew joined us for the week so we had extra fun!  (and extra chaos of course, too!)  We did ALL the things, but yet also did ALL the relaxing.  We arrived on G and T's actual, bday so we started our trip with a special birthday lunch in downtown Beaufort with just the boys since Collins rode down with my mom.  We also finally experienced the drive in movie that night for Toy Story 4 and it was AWESOME!  We only had one day of cloudy weather so that was awesome!  We ventured to Bohicket Marina, Harbor Town, Harbor Island, Edisto Island, Botany Bay, our favorite sandbar AND downtown Beaufort by boat, we had a ball!   My dad got some AMAZING fireworks and we had a little show for the culdesac, so much fun!!  Mikey and I even got to sneak out one night for a date night, headed to our fav, Sal

My Pinterest inspired master bedroom makeover part one.

The BEFORE pictures. I've been itching to re-do my master bedroom for quite some time now. I am one of those people that likes to re decorate quite often...unfortunately for my bank account. Mikey's mom bought him a full queen sized bedroom suite when he graduated college, which was wonderful. It is very nice furniture and has served us well. But, I am SOOO sick of all the dark matchy-matchy look it brings. I will use this furniture again in a guest bedroom one day...but for now, it's time to retire it from my master. All of my bedding and rug I had previously...I've now had this zebra/brown/green theme for almost 4 years...so over it! Fortunately for us...my brother and SIL got a new bed...so what do we get?? Their old KING size bed!! Woohoo. I do NOT like for people to touch me when I sleep, I need my space...I've been wanting a king for so long. Even though our room isn't the biggest the king is working out okay...we aren't going to be in this h

These are the days.

Goodness gracious, I LOVE summer.  I talk it to death every year, but it is especially important to me during this season of life where the school year brings homework/schedules/strict bed times/extra curricular craziness- I appreciate the LAZY days of summer EVEN MORE. I've tried to be intentional about taking a half day here and there to soak up TIME with my babies.  Because Lord knows, they aren't babies for long.  (Yes, I'm referring to my 7 and 5 year olds as babies- #cantstopwontstop ) When we returned from our anniversary trip, we got back early on a Tuesday and used the rest of the day to spend quality family time together.  We took the kids to a local water park, this was all of our first time visiting- and we had a ball!   That same week, my girl and I dressed up and attended her very first company banquet for dance, too much fun!  Lake days with friends are sooooo good for me- we've so enjoyed many of them this summer
